Did you know that 90% of weight lost doesn't come from weight lifting or cardio? It comes from everything in your diet. A personal trainer Alex Velasco once told me you can?t outtrain a bad diet. After comparing UTRGV, Texas Tech, and Kingsville A&M university based on my criteria of being close to home, tuition cost, and a knowledgeable program, UTRGV would be the best to help me pursue a career in personal training. I chose UTRGV because it is close to home, the tuition cost, and program is better compare to my other choices.

Netball uses a combination of each energy systems. It is a fast paced game, with lots of stop-starting, abrupt direction changes, and short, sharp movements. For this reason, netball uses the alactacid, ATP/PC system. This caters for one explosive muscular contraction using ATP lasting 1-2 seconds, and then 10-12 seconds of creatine phosphate (CP) after that. This might be for the centre pass, or any short movements. The Lactic acid system would then take over for 10-60 seconds of high intensity movement, which could be for running or dodging down the court. The body would now progress from the anaerobic system to the aerobic, to meet the demands of the activity. This will last for one hour of work, and is the dominant system used through the 15 minute, interval quarters. As the aerobic system is the predominant energy system used in netball games, the training program is targeted to improve and work this area, for maximal performance.

Some would agree that the field of Athletic Training has not changed over the past hundreds years while others would say that it has changed over time. People have said that it has changed over time because we have more studies, and technology is more advanced than what it was now from in the past years. “Athletic Trainers (ATs) are health care professionals who collaborate with physicians” (Hofstra University, n.d). “The services provided by ATs comprise prevention, emergency care, clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions” (Hofstra University, n.d). Athletic trainers are the first to arrive and the last to leave at most practices and games. They are responsible for making sure the athletes receive the care they need in order to perform at their best. To be a certified trainer, you must have a degree from an accredited institution with an athletic curriculum. The courses you would have to take should include areas such as first aid, injury prevention, human anatomy, physiology, nutrition, physical therapy, illness and prevention, and emergency care. Once you obtain a degree, you must also pass a comprehensive test administered by the Board of Certification. If certification is granted, you must continue to meet ongoing educational requirements to maintain your certification.
My plan B for my career is to be a high school athletic trainer. My reasoning for wanting to be an Athletic trainer is because it deals with my two favorite things to do: sports and helping other athletes with injuries. As the years go on I would like to advance to be a college Athletic trainer then move up to be a professional sports Athletic trainer. The National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) was founded in 1950. The NATA has helped to unify certified athletic trainers across the country by setting a standard for professionalism, education, certification, research and practice settings.

I want to become an athletic trainer after high school. An athletic trainer helps athletes take care of their body. I've been an athlete my entire life. I have also been hurt many times and I know the importance of an athletic trainer. Many times I’ve asked myself why do I want to be an athletic trainer. As a child I’ve always been extremely helpful. Whenever I would see someone who was injured I would always want to be the first person to lend a hand. It also didn’t help that my mom was a Doctor who practices Internal Medicine. I would always see my mom giving people check ups and prescribing them different medications to take and I thought it was so cool. I decided that I would be a sport’s doctor! It seemed like it would be lots of fun.
Health care is an ever-evolving field. Being a healthcare organization in the modern day means that one must keep up with the changes and strive to keep a competitive advantage at all times. In order to stay at the forefront of healthcare, an organization must rely heavily on its human capital. “Having human resources with the right skills at the right time does not happen by accident (Fried & Fottler, 2015).” Properly training and developing employees is very significant in ensuring an organization has a strong foundation. Training and development affect every role and has the power to make a company if done well, or break it if done poorly.
In reference to I/O psychology, the UWB Career services utilize many aspects that are proven to be effective when hiring employees. For explain, the hiring process begins through an online submission where the job position is advertised. Then applicants complete an over-the-phone interview to allow the interview panel to get a better sense of who they are. If they seem qualified, a series of interviews follow along with a work sample of giving a presentation. By having the applicants be interviewed by multiple groups/individuals, it decreases the amount of bias that will occur for the interviewers and increases the reliability of decisions. By the applicants giving a presentation, the individuals organization, communication skills, and knowledge
The onboarding process is imperative to get right because it sets employees up for success. In addition, for a company to retain employees, it’s necessary to ensure new hires feel included, understand their jobs, receive training, and are immersed in the office culture.
Regardless of what your preferred style of training may be, something that all people interested in fitness and health have in common is that training is never limited to only one specific title, it is unanimously about training for ultimate self-development and to be the best self for the people we share our lives and sport with.
