Why You Should Choose Me I believe that you should choose me as a member of the Appomattox Regional Governor’s School chapter of the National Honors Society, because I’m a hard worker who is determined to take charge as well as be a team player. After being rejected at the end of the 2016-2017 school year, I followed up with Ms. Whittle. She gave me great feedback and I have worked hard over the summer to diversify and add to my accomplishments. I can take charge of a project and ensure its success. I’ve shown this tenacity in my seventh grade and eighth grade years at Powhatan Junior High School, in which I was the acting class president and then the official class president. I was able to purchase microwaves and organize a school grounds clean-up, while upholding everyday duties such as maintaining bulletin boards and daily announcements over the PA. I have volunteered over my summers to better my craft and leadership abilities. Ms. Connie Rose has given me the amazing chance to work with her children’s theatre company to create sets and mentor young minds. The Dockside Theatre Company is where I got my start as an actor and where I was taught to understand all the responsibilities a theatre member takes on to make certain of the future success of the production. I decided to move to The Outer Banks of North Carolina for the Summer to lend aid to my grandparents who live a five minute walk away for the local Harris Teeter, through living there I was able to become a full time employee. As a cashier in a high stress vacation destination I was faced with many hurdles to jump. The largest of these was the large number of customers that came through the understaffed front end of the store. In an eight and a half hour, Saturday, shift I could expect upward of five hundred customers to come through my lane. Due to the fact that we were short handed an average check out would consist of scanning the customer's groceries, managing tender, and finally bagging the order. Sometimes these orders would amount to a thousand or more dollars, leading to tricky tender situations in which multiple families would pay and use different methods of
