When one wants to be a teacher, he or she must consider quite a few different aspects in order to know whether or not the career opportunity is right for him or her. Educators have decided why they wanted to become a teacher for many different reasons, whether it be because it is their calling, or any other reason. When becoming a teacher, one must think about what he or she hopes to accomplish as a teacher. Another thing he or she may think about is who influenced his or her decision in choosing a teaching career. Reflecting on my past experiences in school, I know of a few teachers who leave legacies in students’ lives and at the school he or she taught at. When I am asked why I want to become a teacher, the response that comes the quickest is that it is my calling. I have wanted to be a teacher since I could remember, for numerous reasons. Being and working with children will influence me positively. Children are a great reminder on how refreshing an innocent life can be. Everyone needs a little refresher in life, so why not make a career out of it? Children are the gateway to a fun career. I’m able to act like a child, but still be an adult. The main accomplishment I hope to achieve when being an educator is making the students want to learn, not just in the subject I am teaching, but in all of their other classes as well. I would only hope the best for any student, and knowing that I help in any way is a great accomplishment. When I think about my distant future, I think about being in a random place and having a former student tell me about his or her life and achievements. I wish to see my future student achieve whatever goals they may have, with my help as a resource.
