Personal Reflection: My Growth Experience In College

My course in EN100 this fall semester of the 2015 year was a person growth experience in both my life outside of school as well as my growth in school. I’ve learned all too much in the months of being in the course. I do believe all while I’ve gained a lot of skills in the course I’ve also learned of areas that are lacking. I began the semester as a raw student with high potential given the appropriate and adequate effort on my behalf. I knew a little about writing before I entered the class, however, the things that I didn’t know outweighed that of what I did know. For example I could write a paper well enough to get a B grade but I couldn’t write a paper higher than that because areas of organizing, thinking, fast writing all were areas that …show more content…

As a result of not showing up consistently I missed out on significant information for assignments that I could have learned and implemented in my papers as well as my life. I would come to class after missing out on a week of information, dumbfounded with topics of discussion not understanding what is being talked about and having to catch up and back track to get to me to the point where the class was at. When I see what I’ve written in the fast-write is when my brain begins to work or my thinking process kicks in and I begin to generate Ideas of what will actually be transferred into the first draft of whatever paper I had been preparing for. Critical thinking is what best describes the step after fast-writing when you decide what’s next, what comes out of this fast-write or what can help me to write the best paper based off what I have gained from the fast-write. Other skills that contributed to my development as a writer includes; time management, proper usage of grammar, the use of qualified language. All of these things were learned and developed and will be used along the way during my educational journey, which before had been my weakness in an English class. The things learned are things that helped to view college in a totally different way, in a way where I see myself graduating and going on to grad
