I live in a place that gets lots of snow each year. In fact it snowed this weekend, so what do I do in a snow storm? During a snow storm I usually stay inside and either read a book or draw by our fireplace. If I am not relaxing I am probably cooking stuff like Oreo balls, cut out cookies, peanut butter balls, and almond bark pretzels. If I am not inside I'm outside in the storm (if it's not too bad) with my sister, brothers, and of course my dog. If the snow is sticky we make the most epic forts, and we have snowball fights. If the snow isn't too fluffy we go sledding. During every snow storm we all have hot chocolate after our day of relaxing, or fun day in the snow.

Being born is Tecumseh, Ontario, ski racing didn’t seem like a natural fit. I had skis on my feet from the age of two and we took annual trips to Mt. Tremblant. In 2007, my family decided to make the move to Calgary, Alberta, from that time on, we have all had a passion for skiing. In 2008, I joined the Sunshine Alpine Race Team based out of Sunshine Village in Banff and that’s been my home team ever since.
I was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, a city whose history is rich and whose food is richer. My grandparents and their parents all lived enchanting lives in the Crescent City. As a young girl, I always imagined what it would be like to spend my teenage years baton twirling in Mardi Gras parades with my high school marching band just as my mom did. I rode my bike around the flat city, void of hills. I visited with my grandparents on weekends while they took me to second lines and jazz festivals. I loved the city I was growing up in but I failed to appreciate it until I was faced with a hasty departure.
When asking most people his or her favorite season that person will say the basic spring, summer, fall, or winter; however, I think of seasons differently. My seasons consist of track season, from the end of February until April; no school season, from May until July; cross country season, from August until November; and soccer season, from November until the middle of February. My life as a high school athlete revolves around school and sports; therefore, my thinking of seasons also revolves around school and sports. There is an attraction to cross country season unlike any other season; consequently, it is my favorite season. It was the day of the robotics competition. There was a mistake in the code for our robot, and it needed to be fixed. My hands were moving like lightning on the keyboard. My eyes were scanning code like it was the only thing left in the world. The place around me was nebulous due to my concentration. This needed to be fixed before the next round. Perspiration was forming on my brow. I looked at the clock. Dang! There was less than a minute left. The time was ticking. My programming prowess allowed me to speed up. The code was done! Thin air encompasses me as I commence the final day of skiing at Vail, Colorado. Seven days of skiing elapse rather painlessly; I fall occasionally but an evening in the Jacuzzi soothes my minor aches. Closing time approaches on the final day of our trip as I prepare myself for the final run of the vacation. Fresh off the ski lift, I coast toward the junction of trails on the unoccupied expert face of the mountain. After a moment of thought, I confidently select a narrow trail so steep that only the entrance can be seen from my viewpoint.
