When people think of the word home, they usually think of their own houses. However, home does not only refer to our place of residence, but something so much bigger than that; Earth. I have always been concerned for the well being of our planet, our only home. As a result, I joined the Going Green Club and was voted president for the 2015-2016 school year. As president I have many responsibilities; I am responsible for organizing the club’s meetings, creating the agenda, and organizing clean ups and fundraisers. ...et, a social status and a link to our past. The Prehistory of home read like a narrative to human history and not just about the houses we built throughout time. As I read “The Prehistory of Home” I realized I was reading the history and evolution of humans in the last million years. Homes can mean more than increased storage: human shelters, Social status or a place to hang. It can have richly diverse names such as shack, kraal, cabin, chalet, igloo, shanty, condo and many more. As I read through the 12 chapters of this amazing book I feel more connected to my past and found new respect for the human race. As a home owner myself I feel that the first brick of my home was laid long before my time and what I have achieved today is but a mere footstep on our journey of life.
We firmly believe that our local efforts to promote the Live Green campaign will be extremely successful, as it will reach a wide audience who already believes in a cause that we are endorsing. The use of Live Green Park will significantly benefit the local community because of the many amenities the park offers and the fact that it is versatile in its use, from soccer games and concerts to city-sponsored events. Most importantly, we believe that through our actions, Life Time Fitness is setting a precedent; this will force other the industry to become more interactive within their communities and promote environmental conservatism.

The wind was very powerful for this course on the Tell City Country Club through these enormous green hills of the golf course. Dead grass and brown leaves were blowing nonstop. There were three teams total that knew that would be an extremely close score. My team and I stood in our red jerseys knowing that we were going to be the ones to win. As I walked into class on my opening day of 1st grade in a new school, I knew something was different about me. I looked around to see all my peers who were quite normal and polite, but there was just something off. I soon realized this was my height when I overheard the nicknames “Tree,” “Giraffe,” and my personal favorite “The Statue of Liberty.” As though my first day of school was not tough enough, my teacher pulled me to the side and began to talk to me about advanced education. In the novel The Book of Negroes by Lawrence Hill Aminata is a young girl who is abducted from her village in Africa and taken to America as a slave where she grows up in and out of freedom. When Aminata is in America she has a daughter named May who is stolen from her by a white couple when she was very young but returns to Aminata at an older age. Aminata was born in Bayo, Africa and May in America. Aminata lived in Bayo until she was 12 so she knows a better life and a life outside of America. Whereas, May does not know another home other than America that is her country. Aminata has been through a lot in America
Golf is life. Throughout my life I have played many different sports. I played football, baseball, lacrosse, and soccer; but no other sport caught my interest like the game of golf. Golf was therapeutic to me in times of stress and school drama. When everything seemed out of sorts, a golf club and a ball created order in my world. My love of the game was unrivaled by any other sport because of the these qualities.

My work as an activist involves advocacy, research and implementation of community projects that are targeted towards the groups I advocate for, who are: Women, the youth, children and minority groups that are marginalized. Most of the work I do among these groups are informed by research and active involvement in groups that already exist in the community or ones that I have founded myself. The issues I am mostly involved in are for women, the improvement of their status relative to men; for children and the youth, it is education, community involvement, leadership, responsible citizenship and relations between men and women. To deliver to these groups, I do a lot of writing which is both fiction and non-fiction.
No neighborhood is perfect there is always something that is able to be bettered. With our neighborhood, Floyd, we can do a better job of getting teens off the streets at night to help keep them out of trouble. Floyd has a drug problem and yet most try to hid it we can’t anymore. One way we can try and get teens off the streets and away from the thought of doing drugs is by having more police officers or setting a curfew and have officers enforce it. If Floyd doesn’t want to spend money on putting more officers on the streets they could always just close off the back alleyways where most of the drugs are dealt to help and reduce them.
There are so many good feelings that people can get from belonging to a home. At home, I know that the door is always open for me, the people living there will always love me, and I am sure that there will always be something good to eat there. Because the people that I love the most, my family, are living in my home, that is what matters most to me.
I am one of those people that you’d probably term “normal”. I attend a normal school, I work at a normal job, I have a normal life. You wouldn’t single me out on the street: there is nothing remarkable about me, I am one of the many. So, what has someone like me got to say that would make any difference to this world? I haven’t fought the important socio-political battles of this century; I haven’t done anything that will be recorded in the world annals. Yet, I believe that I can contribute towards a healthier society.
“Home is where love resides, memories are created, friends always belong, and laughter never ends (Robot check).” A place becomes a home for me when I am around all the things that I enjoy and love. For example, when I am around everyone that I love, I enjoy a peaceful environment and the beautiful landscapes around me. The interpretation of home for me is not a physical thing that I see or that I can remember or even certain thoughts that I can relate, but it is a sensation that overcomes me when I envision being in the comfort of my own home. However, I know that this is a feeling that is calming to my soul and it quietly reassures me that I genuinely belong in a place where I can be free from people constantly judging me.
“Being green” does not have to be a life-changing task. Simple habits and a few reminders can make a difference to save our planet from wasting energy, polluting the air, and our health. We as human beings are looking forward to simplify our lives, but in order to keep our planet healthy and pollution free, we have to sacrifise our own convinience.
