My two weeks of career work experience was an incredible time for me to expand my knowledge in working with seniors and an idea of what nursing would be like. I had a pleasure of working with a wonderful staff, enjoying their company and making my experience a great time.
My expectations before starting work experience were knowing and learning basic skills of how registered nurses would do their job of working with seniors or patients. These expectations are how nurses manage to feed, communicate, interact, provide daily exercise, give medications, how they maintain patient behaviors and daily reports. Chemistry has different courses including biochemistry, pharmacology, general level chemistry and organic chemistry, all of these play an important role in helping nurses understand different organic compounds, chemical equations, chemical reactions and chemical processes. This will help nurses to understand the effects of different medicines to patients. Biology is related to nursing because is the study of the living and their interactions such as anatomy, ecology, genetics, cell, entomology and microbiology. The education and training required for being a registered nurse are a Bachelor Degree of Science (BSN) these would have a different requirement based on different colleges or universities, an Associate of Science in Nursing (ADN) or completing a Diploma Program. After finishing, your degree you have to pass the National Council Examination Licensure (NCLEX-RN) this is where they determine if it’s safe for you to begin practice as an entry-level nurse. I learn about myself from this work experience is that to approach the career of a registered nurse is to have confidence and good communication with people around you especially with patients.
