My Canvas My freshman mentality was a canvas painted in the color of black and white, each stroke was controlled and drawn with precise lines. The painting showcased a picture of the cityscape-achromatic and neutral. I was another eager soul, confident to meet challenges. Brush lines of towering buildings reflected my aspirations; white dots of glowing stars represented my idealistic goals to succeed in my classes. I was determined, committed, and confident. My idealistic mindset failed to encourage me amongst the mundane lifestyle of homework and exams. Amidst the muted strokes of shades and monochromes, I lost the ability to push forward. I co-founded Care Club to fundraise money for national children’s hospitals. For my school, I volunteered to become a member of Link Crew; my role was to help create a fun school environment for the students by facilitating a stronger relationship between upperclassmen and underclassmen through games and group activities. My position as the secretary of World’s Travelers- a club that organizes summer trips for students to various countries, inspired my passion to travel. The extracurricular activities I participated in allowed me to explore different hobbies and allowed me to gain the fundamental skills of leadership and teamwork. My canvas is now colored with a variety of hues that reflects my newfound interests. Abstract images of shapes and forms mirror my imagination and creativity. Layers of depth and dimensions included in my artwork reveal my aspiration. My painting is a lifelong work-in-progress that will always evolve as I gain new passions.
