It was all fun and games until we heard the sirens. We went to the cops terrified that we were in so much trouble but we didn't know why, once the police told us we did nothing wrong, we all learned a very important lesson. Ask for permission before you do things. It was a bright sunny summer day in August and my friends and I went down to CMH high school to play football. Me and my friend were captains and we picked out teams. A couple of touchdowns later we heard the sirens “Wee-Woo Wee-Woo”,we were scared out of our minds.
My parents were divorced at a very early age and I grew up all my life going from one house to the other. This was really hard for me because I loved playing basketball and at my Dad's we couldn't find a club team until

At my Dad’s even when their wasn't practice or a tournament we would always hang out. We would always do something physical or outside so we all got together and decided what to play. There was 8 of us and one of my friends Jerome said excitedly “Yo we should go and play football” we all thought this was a great idea, but didn't know where to play at. We were in Costa Mesa at the time and spending the night at my other teammates house Thomas. He lives right next to CMH and he actually attends their to, So we decide to start walking their to play. It was really nice outside today it was about 95 degrees but we had some wind which made it perfect weather at least to me. It was about a 5 minute walk to the high school. While walking there we were deciding to use the little ball that was easier for spectacular catches or the NFL size ball. Me, Keyshawn and Jerome wanted use the small ball because we were the WR’s and it would be fun to attempt some spectacular catches. I said “We would land some dope one-handers” Enthusiastically and Keyshawn replied by saying ‘Yea let's use the small one.” A spectacular catch is a catch from a wide receiver that is out of the ordinary …show more content…
The redzone is when you are in the opponent's 20 yard line. I was playing slot receiver which is a receiver who is lined up closer to the quarterback right when Jerome was about to snap the ball all we heard was sirens. They sirens were as loud as an air-raid siren. Jerome says terrified, “We are in so much trouble” and I turned that into a PG rated comment. All of our hearts dropped like the sun at night. We all stopped what we were doing and made a very slow walk to the police car. There was two cars and four men. The cars both had their sirens on and one of the men were holding a megaphone. He looked like the sheriff because he was kinda directing the other policemen like running drills. When we were in the parking lot we were so scared because they stopped what they were doing and they were all looking at us. Slowly still walking to the now in the parking lot one of the officer’s say in a very friendly voice “Hey boys, how was the football” while the other officer said “who won” I didn’t know what to do because he seemed very friendly ,but they saw us play football. We finally got to the officers in the parking lot. I said “ Hi officers do you need us” in a very concerned voice. At this moment the we all froze thinking what would happen if we got in trouble, what would we have to do, how would this affect our lives in sports and in school, will this be on our transcripts, if we are in trouble where do we go there
Religion has always been confusing for me when regarding myself and my family. Everyone around me had their own or didn’t have one at all. My grandparents were catholic and taught their six kids in a catholic mindset. All my aunts and uncles got baptized, went to church every Sunday, and read the bible. Once they got older they stopped going though. I don’t think any of them even stills believes in god anymore. Then there’s my sister, Julie, who was raised catholic in her younger years. Her grandparents would take her to church and Sunday school and even wanted to get her baptized as a baby. My mom said no though so she wasn’t. When Julie was in Elementary School her grandmother sent her to a religious camp. I didn’t have to go though because
It was the last game of the season. The championship game against are rivals highland park. The score was 28-21 and we were down. We had just scored and we were kicking the ball off. They have the ball on our twenty yard line and they are slowly progressing and gaining yards, we needed to stop them, and quick! The ball was on the left hash, the same side i was on. I was playing corner blocking the outside receiver. The older quarterback snapped the ball he
Every student dreams of going to college, but once you are enrolled it’s a challenge to achieve the goal of getting the degree. Weather it has been a friend, family member, or even a neighbor they have their ways of handling the conundrum. My friend Kevin, recently graduated this past year, started of in Middlesex for two years, and then he transferred to Rutgers to finish his career. He graduated from Rutgers and now is an accounting major. Kevin is amiable, hardworking, and deft. During his time at Middlesex and Rutgers, he had a job at Apple, went to the gym, participated in many fundraisers, and volunteer at hospitals. All these task that he did engendered an issue. The issue it created was that he had no time to do anything. He would

I was sent to detention. As I was in detention I pondered about football, and if I was going to miss practice. “RING” I startled as I jumped out of my seat and darted out the door. I screeched to a halt in the locker room and I saw everyone grabbing their game jersey? I very suspiciously walked over to my coach,
I open my eyes on a sandy beach, wet, damp and hurt. I slowly push myself off the ground and look around myself. The sun is hot and I am parched. The only thing I have with me is my backpack, which only has gum, crackers, books and my handheld video game. I look next to my brother on the sand, probably in the same boat as me. My name is Joseph Oscar and I am stranded.
The play was "Red 334"which is a run to our halfback, me, out of our dive series. I crouched over the ball as I jetted past the quarterback and ran the play so we could observe the changes we needed to make. I let out a sigh of relief because we were finished with the most dreaded part of practice; well, only until someone complained about not knowing their job on one of our pass plays. Coach Nelson undoubtedly decided we needed to run through the final pass play before we perfected our defense. The play was quietly called in the huddle with intentions of getting it right. I ran the play through my mind while I tried to remember what the snap count was and what I was supposed to do for that play. The ball was snapped and I jolted to the left of our team's quarterback to set up his backside protection. Out of my peripheral vision, I noticed the defensive end raging toward the quarterback. I intensely stepped into him while lowering my body and exploded through his shoulder pads sending him stumbling into the line's pass protection.
I sat and waited for the bell. Overwhelmed with all the homework I had, I almost didn’t want to leave. Watching Tony Rusher and his possy plan for mischief night was getting boring, so I started to daydream. In the blink of an eye, everyone was gone. I guess I just had gotten used to the bell. I grabbed my stuff, I headed out the door. A minute or two must have gone by, because I was one of the only people left in the hall, and they were playing that annoying song.
This morning, I worked up to get ready for school. I put on mo clothes and brush my teeth. I ate breakfast and got ready to go to the bus. What! My mom running to me to give me my lunch. I got on the bus and we were heading to school. I sat in my seat getting ready for class.
I was only 15 years old; imagine a little boy in a huge and beautiful city without parents, without family. A boy who thought he was alone in the world. Now, in the year 2021, I know I’m not alone. I choose to stay in Lima and this is why and how Lima grew until this year, 2021.
It is something about the holiday season that I start to reminisce back to my childhood. Most likely because of all the many festivities, I was forced to go to as a kid. I hated attending these gatherings. As a child, you could describe me best as a “home body”. At every Thanksgiving I sat in the back corner of my Aunt Tammy’s house and watched as my cousins played and the adults spoke about their past and present lives. Now that I look back, I wish I would have made the most out of these moments, but all I could do is impatiently waiting to indulge in all the delicious holiday food.
School (ugh) I have been through a lot of it and I still have more to go (ugh). I started school when I turned 2 almost 3 years old. My first year at school was at my church, the program was called “moms and tots” the year after we tried to do “moms and tots” and a preschool called “teddy bears” at the Central High school but doing both did not really work so we just stuck with “teddy bears” for a school year. Like a regular school year, starts in the fall ends in the spring. The year after I attended VPK for another school year at my elementary school called Chocachatti. I continued through Chocachatti till the very end.
I hid between my mother’s legs, timidly looking at the other kids. I let my big chocolate eyes take in the sight in front of me. Kids were running around while squealing in their childish voices. It was a blur of colors and sounds, as little kids around my age enjoyed their play time. They seemed to be wearing whatever they found comfortable, enjoying the freedom from wearing a boring uniform. The school itself was quite small compared to former primary school. My mom nudged me as my dad slowly introduced himself to my new teacher. She had rosy cheeks, blonde hair that reached her shoulders, Harry Potter style glasses resting on her nose, and a warm, welcoming smile. She introduced herself as Ms. Strehl and welcomed me into her class, B3.
I often find myself busy outside school. Sometimes I wonder if other people are to. I participate in many things. Also I enjoy hanging out with my friend. My days outside school are pretty entertaining and in my own way busy.
The sun was setting and it began to grow darker. It was a peaceful night. I walked on to the stone road. Kicking stones with every step I took. I zipped up my jacket and headed out for my nightly walk.
