All of my life the sports I have played consisted of teams, and those teams had to work together in order to succeed. Team players are people who can cooperate willingly with everyone but it is more than that. A team player improves others performance around him, a team player makes everyone a better individual and exploits their talents, a team player boosts efficiency as far as chemistry. Team players can make a drastic difference in a team, without them most teams would not be able to execute as well as they do now. When I was very young I was on PAL soccer team and the season just started and we were having our first couple of practices and we were not looking to good. But then this new kid joined the team named Timothy everyone called him Tim. I’m not sure why but everyone really liked Tim he was a fantastic soccer player, he was fantastic because he didn’t just take the ball and score he would pass it around to everyone and let them have a chance of participation. Once the season got going the rest of the team got comfortable with the game to where we actually became a pretty decent team and we almost even won the championship all because this little kid named Tim was a amazing team player. Freshman year it was one of the last big science projects of the school year and my teacher reveals a list of the groups and I see my group and they just stared at each other. I waited for someone to step up when I realized that it was going to have to be me. I began talking to everyone individually and seeing what they knew and how they could put together what they knew so we could all contribute to this project and walk away a little
Playing football has given me the opportunity to meet new people and make new friendships that will last a lifetime. Those friendships are made in the hot summer workouts, when everyone is tired, hot, and thinking about giving up, teammates are right by their side motivating them. After a brutal beginning of the season players are scraped and bruised and during mid-season practices, some players may think that the team doesn’t have any chance at being in the playoffs. Teammates unite together and remind each other that if everyone works together, everything will fall into place. A good team involves also being in good physical shape. Players are banged up and have little annoying pains, but that doesn’t stop a good team so the conditioning doesn’t stop. Everyone has to do it, but being on a team that helps motivate each other, it helps the pain feel more tolerable. I encountered a “bump in the road” at a young age. I began playing softball at age six when Kylie, my elementary school friend, came to show and tell with her first place T-ball trophy. At the time, I had only played soccer, but the thought of swinging a bat as hard as I could and having people in the stands cheer for me, inspired me to ask my mother to register me for the local recreational league. Before I knew it, I was lacing up last year’s soccer cleats and stepping up to bat in my first coach-pitch softball game. My father, being the coach, stood on the mound and lobbed in the fattest meatball every hitter dreams of. With the ding of my second-hand garage sale bat, the ball sailed over the shortstop. Some may have called it beginner's luck, but I called it a sign.

It was game night and I was amped to be a part of the football team, I had waited a long time to be a part of the Southeast Trojans’ team! I was a little unsure though because I had missed three days of practice this week and I knew that Coach didn’t play that. When I got to the locker room to get dressed, Coach told me to see him once I got dressed out. I got scared right away because I didn’t know what he was going to say or do to me because I knew in the back of my mind that it was about me missing practice. When I was dressed out, I went in to see Coach. As the saying goes, teamwork makes the dream work. When a group of individuals comes together to work seamlessly as a team, something pretty magical happens. People who work together are able to accomplish much more as a group than they would by themselves by building off each other. An individual can be a strong player but when they’re apart of a team and are dedicated to the team’s success instead of to their own success they’re strengthened by the backup of that team. Getting a star studded group of individuals over a team of people can sometimes even spell for disaster.
The team player term can be misinterpreted by many players and fans. Many people considered Allen Iverson and Ronaldinho early in his career as great team players because they were incredible for their teams and led them to wins. So is there truly a solid definition for team player? Zlatan, even though he was big headed, shows what a true team player is. He often puts his personal success aside and put his teammates first. Michael Jordan is also an American hero because he won so often using the team first technique. The team player, team first tactic is what makes sports now so amazing to watch, because now instead of one key player on the team doing all the work, you see the entire team play incredibly as one. That being said, the true definition of a team player depends on both the success of the player and the team.
Teamwork is the combined action of a group of people, especially when effective and efficient. Any group of people could form “teams”, but when you form a group where everyone can work together and teach each other things such as self-respect and self-confidence, you have teamwork. When everyone is struggling, why not help each other out? Coach Ken Carter in demand of respect and commitment transforms a group of teenage boys into a group of young men in the movie Coach Carter. The fact that Coach Carter had transformed this group of boys is not why I enjoyed this movie. My interest moves more towards how he transformed these boys. He taught these boys to value themselves not only as a team, but also as individuals. He also taught them to look at something more than the moment at hand; and look more into the future.
3 years ago I wanted to play another sport. I didn’t have many options so i thought volleyball was a good choice. I first played for rec but then i realized I was a little better than everyone else and I wanted to get on a better team. I found WVA and I have been playing for them for 2 years now. Ever since I joined club my skills have gotten a lot better.
