As a child growing up, I have always like moving things around. Mother would always fuss at me about moving things around in the house. My brother and I would take a chair and place things on the chair in order to move objects around. With that being said the career that I have chosen to pursue is one of a Forklift Operator. The mere thought of freedom of movement and being your own boss in a sense should motivate anyone to pursue a career as one. A forklift operator is not a job or career to be taken lightly. As a forklift operator, a person will be responsible for operating the fork lift, of course, but also with moving, locating, relocating, and stacking of products. Safety is a must. The majority of the time, a person will be required to stand or walk, push or pull pallets and some lifting is required as well. A person might be required to lift a certain amount before being hired. The level of education varies according to where a person obtain his or her certification. Most companies or businesses will accept a high school diploma or GED certificate. Some companies will provide on-the-job training. The median salary for a forklift operator is around $31, 987 but also keep in mind the company that a person is working for and the region of the United States that a person works or lives in. Those facts play a great deal in determining the salary a person will make as a forklift operator. A person can expect to work at least 40 hours per week. Some might have the option to select which ship he or she would like to work whether it 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift. Most of the time a person is going to work Monday thru Sunday.
