I remember the time my sister, Shifali Malhotra, and I built a fort in our closet over the summer. We were so young and making such fun memories. Summer spent together was always a blast. We would share multiple laughs and were, at the time, basically the same person. As days flew by, and our time together grew shorter, her moments of attending high school were rearing to an end. Her days of going off to college were fast approaching. My sister would be leaving me to study two hours away at the University of Iowa. Although she would not be too far it definitely felt as if she would be thousands of miles away. I hear the ding of the doorbell as my parents rush towards the door. They open the door to greet our family members, as we welcome them in, and get them situated. It was mid-summer and everyone that had entered was from my mother's side of the family. They were here to congratulate Shifali at her graduation party. The party was coming up in a short amount of days. All of Shifali’s friends and family would be attending. My cousin and I prepared a speech to present on the day of the graduation party. We wrote a rough draft, fixed and analyzed it, and read it in front of my mom to get a final approval. She was moved by the speech and loved it. My cousin and I began to get excited about the day. …show more content…
Everything was a blur, as the events were fast moving, and going by rapidly. My family and I arrived first to set up for the party. All the girls were dressed in gowns and guys in suits, almost like prom, but in reality, it was just a fancy graduation party. As we stood in the rented out hotel room for what seemed like forever, we noticed a crowd of familiar faces that began to fill the room. The room contained people who supported my sister throughout her whole life. By 7 o’clock the party began to kick off as music was playing and food was provided. The guests were all chatting and laughing as they seemed to be having a magnificent
It was a few days before I left for school and my best friend, Kate, was throwing a good-bye party for our group of friends. I was so excited for this bash seeing that it would be the last time our group would be together for a while. It was a time for all of us to move on and embark upon futures that held so much for all of us, and to say farewell to the people and memories that had shaped us.
It was a sunny day with a sweet aroma of blooming tulips. The sunlight glittered on their faces as the breeze rattled the chestnut tree above. There was an occasional giggle as they talked, but there was also a hint of discomfort and awkwardness between them as they peeked at each other’s face and recoiled when the other looked up. When the bell rang twice, I saw them say goodbye and walk away from each other. In the darkness of the crowd, a glimmer flashed into my eyes from Hannah’s cheeks.
Crucet says, “I don’t even remember the moment they drove away,” but unlike the author’s family, mine left after I moved in, they did not stay the whole first week into my classes. After the first day of being alone, I wish they
Growing up as an only child I made out pretty well. You almost can’t help but be spoiled by your parents in some way. And I must admit that I enjoyed it; my own room, T.V., computer, stereo, all the material possessions that I had. But there was one event in my life that would change the way that I looked at these things and realized that you can’t take these things for granted and that’s not what life is about.
In the days leading up to her graduation, she was so excited about receiving her diploma for her academic accomplishments, even though she hasn’t accomplished a lot in life by experiencing a little bit of it. She felt like the birthday girl with her pretty dress, beautiful hair, and the presents she received from Uncle Willie and her mother. She felt like it w...
I grew up very quickly, since I was the baby of the family and my siblings were twenty years apart I was always around grownups and rarely any kids, at least not my age kids. The only kids around me were my cousins who were around twelve years old or more. So, there I was playing around in a time of grievance for the loss of my grandma. I ran and hid behind one of the largest flowered ornaments I had ever seen. It must have been at least seven feet tall or bigger, but it was perfect for a princess throne, It was just right for me. My grandmother must have been very popular around her town because I remember crowds of people. There were so many people I they had placed chairs al on the outside of the house and even brought a truck full of tables so that people can eat all the food my aunts were making in the kitchen. I remember picking at all the different kinds of sweet bread and sweet dished they had. The smell of cinnamon and flowers filled the air throughout the house. My mom was so busy with all the people that kept walking up to her and making her cry more that she had no time to watch or control how much sweets I was eating. It was a free for
I hated that party. I hated those drinks. I hated myself. I walked into the bustling party of my parent's house. It was filled with people I didn’t even know, but the familiar faces were only my parents and sister. They were in the kitchen was filled to the max with people. I trudged my way through the crowd when I got to my sister, she was elated to see me. I asked, “Why are there so many people at my birthday party?”
“I want to let you know how thankful I am for your assistance, Sam.” Mr. Bushnell said, leading me into an elevator.
Imagine being in a car ride to Sea World 2 hours long and so excited to go on the roller coasters and look at amazing animals . Wait, I don't want to spoil it so let's get into my amazing experience.
Leaving the bodies for last we walked down the drive to take a look. Several rifles and shotguns were leaned carefully again the big oak. Two handguns and some knives were on the grass in front of them. Four people dangled from a branch of the tree close enough to each other to bump like a weird wind chime. A young couple and the other twice their age at a guess from the gray hair and styles of dress. They were probably parents and a married son or daughter with their spouse. Other than being hung there were no injuries apparent on any of the four. From the condition of the bodies they had been dead about a day.
I gave her a fake smile, and slipped my own shoes on. The left foot boot had a huge stain that was as black as the midnight sky. I looked at the doorway and could see my mom and dad carrying huge loads of presents into the back of the truck. I keep looking to see if they were carrying a small rectangular box that was the size of an iphone that I have been wanting for like, EVER! I decided to look away and have it be a surprise because maybe if I got something good this year for Christmas people would start to notice me. Anyways, my cousin Bella had a iphone that was so cool, we used to play on it all the time, just me and her.
I sat and waited for the bell. Overwhelmed with all the homework I had, I almost didn’t want to leave. Watching Tony Rusher and his possy plan for mischief night was getting boring, so I started to daydream. In the blink of an eye, everyone was gone. I guess I just had gotten used to the bell. I grabbed my stuff, I headed out the door. A minute or two must have gone by, because I was one of the only people left in the hall, and they were playing that annoying song.
I have encountered the quote,” Easy Does It, Sun” in my life. for example, I was in the Woodland summer camp in 4th grade and they were holding an egg drop in competition. I imprudently forgot to work on it beforehand. Therefore, I woke up really early the day it was due to start my project because I really wanted to win the competition. My mind was racing with many ideas I was putting together in my brain. As I ran hastily down the stairs, I mistakenly slipped and fell. Then, my parents, Grandparents, and sister rushed after me to see if I was okay. I suddenly had lost consciousness and was unresponsive. my mom called 911 and my sister prepared to give me CPR. It was a very frightening moment for everyone. Luckily, my sister had
Right now, a buzz is going through the hall in which all the seniors are waiting and they look like bees swarming in the hall. It’s becoming hot and we’re all getting impatient. Amber is more composed and enjoying the good times in the present. She is standing there happy but sad to be dispersing from the rest of her classmates. Ann, the smartest one is having a little fun but not really. Her feelings are that of a person who realizes she’s going to miss what she had, but wanting to get the ceremony over with because it’s taking too long. Standing in that room we are together and enjoying one last real time capturing a picture with each other. Amber’s mom is so proud of her daughter that she keeps talking and smiling and trying to part of every MOMent. Amber is thinking to herself that she wishes her mom weren’t there but she’s ‘happy inside because someone is cooing over’ her. As Ann is standing beside Amber she keeps getting these expressions that say, she likes being with her friends but, ‘what is taking so long? Can’t we get out of these dang robes, yet?’
As my mother held me in her arm telling me how special I was, and what honor I would bring to my family. Adisa you are a princess, she said. This is your destiny. Who knew those words would haunt my for the rest of my life. I miss my mother and Father so much, I dream about my mother. She in her long blue dress she wov...
