Personal Leadership Vision and Self-Efficacy Plan
Introduction
As I learn about my strengths through various leadership and value assessments tools, I review and assess the times that the strengths have helped them achieve their academic and professional goals. Any goal that I have set to accomplish in their life become influenced by their life experience whether positive or negative events. My leadership vision and self-efficacy plan have been created by my knowledge, skills, and achievements throughout my life and years in college and graduate school. Every experience leads me to establish my personal vision, short-term goals, intermediate goals, and long-term goals that I can accomplish within the next ten years.

This types of visions allow me to focus my attention on important goals that I want to accomplish in my life and the leader I want to become (Friedman, 2008). Additionally, the vision has to be rooted in the past, address future goals, and deal with present goals (Friedman, 2008). A compelling personal leadership vision focuses on action, provides direction, and inspires your stakeholders (Friedman, 2009). Before beginning the MSW program, part of my personal vision was to earn my Master’s degree to eventually impact the lives of my fellow Asian American students working in the school district. However, now that I am on the end of earning my MSW degree in the next couple of months, my personal vision statement has been towards helping children to geriatric clients in the hospital setting rather than focusing on children in the school setting. The three short-term goals include the following by becoming either a per-diem or full-time medical social worker, continuing to learn about hospital operations, and obtaining my LCSW licensure. Additionally, the action steps required to achieve these goals start by obtaining a per diem or full-time position as a medical social worker. These goals would be accomplished within one year after graduating from the master of social work program. Accomplish the second goals comes from attending training and conferences provided by the graduate program or professional social work organizations that I am a member of. This goal becomes an ongoing process throughout my career as a social worker. The third goal comes when I working a medical social work position and collecting hours the adequate amount of hours and pass the exam.
