My personal vision of God is a spirit made up of power, wisdom, and goodness that can’t be fully understood by any amount of writing or philosophical studies. I think God’s ultimate concern is to teach us to help one another to serve our fellow neighbor. In today’s society we have tried to better each other by using different tactics, some good, and others bad. We need to reevaluate our actions on how to enhance our society, starting with eliminating the bad tactics we use. To do this, we should revise the bible and how we perceive the two different Testaments, based on moral values then and now. By doing this, we will enhance our definition and understanding of morality. By definition, the bible, is a “collection of sacred writings of …show more content…

Many Christians have never fully read the bible and base their understanding of it on word of mouth. Looking at it closer, one would notice that many parts of the bible are not of any use or are mostly rejected in today’s society, which is why we should reevaluate its teachings and revoke any that are no longer needed. Even the Pope has gone against scripture that is unacceptable in our world today. “If they accept the Lord and have goodwill, who am I to judge them?” This is a quote from Pope Francis, stating that as long as a person does good, who is anyone to judge them. In this quote the Bible says that no fetus less than a month old is considered of value. Does this mean that the child has no worth if they’re less than a month? Even though Leviticus is from the Old Testament, many of these protestors use other quotes, from the same testament, and say that life begins immediately after the sperm hits the egg. “What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, ‘Go in peace, be warmed and filled,’ without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead” (James 2:14-17). If protestors have time to picket these abortion clinics why don’t they put it toward a more useful action like helping already birthed children, who may not have a parent, have been born into an unfit home, or live in poverty? People need to stop trying to find the fault and start enlightening them not only with faith, but also with physical
