Clash of the Titans
In the Clash of the Titans, Perseus, the son of Zeus, goes on his journey to defeat the Kraken once the gods get furious. With his new skills, he saves the city, and becomes a hero.
He is said to be one of the perfect examples of a greek hero. It began when he was found in at sea with his dead mother. He is given the title of a greek hero, by learning new skills, being favored by gods, and having trails to end his quest.
Perseus gains the skills he needs later on in the journey, Draco teaches him to fight, being a demigod, he exceeded in fighting, He learned to trust the others, allowing him to get the help when he was in a jam. He also needed to trust Djinn, he healed him when Perseus was hurt.

Perseus was born to Danae and the Greek god Zeus. Acrisius, the father of Danae, was told by the oracle of Apollo that Danae’s son would kill him. After finding out that Danae had her son, Perseus, Acrisius shut Perseus and Dane up in a large chest cast the chest out to sea. After a while out in the sea, they landed on the island of Seriphos, where they were saved by the king Polydectes’s brother, Dictys. Polydectes, after hearing about Danae, wanted her to marry him. In order to get rid of Perseus, so that no one would be able to stop him from marrying Danae, Polydectes came up with a plan. He pretended to be marrying the daughter of one of his friends and required everyone to bring him a wedding gift. Polydectes knew that Perseus, being very poor, would arrive empty-handed. Perseus vowed that he could bring Polydectes anything that he wanted and so Polydectes demanded Perseus to bring him the head of the gorgon Medusa, hoping that he would be killed. Odysseus has all the qualities made to be a true hero. Not only did Odysseus fight on behalf of the Greeks in Troy (Trojan War), but everything he went through he learned a valuable lesson at the end; Odysseus endured so much during his journey going back to Ithaca but he never gave up on any of his principles. He also had good escape strategies, and he risked his life to save others. Imagine you being on the same journey Odysseus went through, do you honestly believe you would have survived? He made some minor mistakes along the way but nobody’s perfect. That’s why Odysseus is a hero because, he’s strong, and intelligent and was able to get out of sticky situations.

Perseus’ story begins when his grandfather, King Acrisus, receives a prophecy that says the son of his only daughter, Denaë, would kill him. To make sure this wouldn't happen, he locked his daughter away so that she would never have a son. The second time, he led his friends around the world to convince the 12 Olympians to fight for his cause, to save the world as we know it. He brought backup to where the fight was occurring to help take down the evil forces. These great deeds prove that he is a true hero.
The definition of a hero is unique for every individual; however there are several regulations that majority of individuals can agree on. A hero must exhibit traits such as humility, kindness, and courage. Once the candidate expresses hubris, displays cruelty, or retreats from a formidable challenge, he cannot be considered a hero. Lastly, a hero candidate must overcome challenges that defy the odds. He must deliver a gift to society that benefits society as a whole; such gifts can be freedom, liberty, or hope. Odysseus in The Odyssey, by Homer, fulfilled these requirements and rightfully earned the title of a hero. Odysseus is well deserving of the title hero because he has put the needs of others before his own, shown signs of courage in the face of adversity, and displays humility by ridding himself of his hubris.
The Greek heroes, Theseus and Perseus, are unique from each other because of the personalities and achievements. They were both assisted by gods in the journeys and have killed fierce enemies with there help. Perseus is the ruler of the Tiryns kingdom and son of Olympian Zeus and mortal Danae making him a Demigod. On the other hand, Theseus is the king of Athens kingdom and son of the former ruler of Athens, King Aegeus and Aethra making him a mere mortal. Although both are great Greek heroes, Theseus was more heroic and more intelligent than Perseus.
The main character of the Odyssey, Odysseus the King of Ithaca is given a complex personality to an extent where it is hard to identify whether he is a true hero or not. True heroism is only achieved when a person achieves certain qualities that portray heroism. Odysseus is not a hero based on the standards of merciful, selfless, and gentle because of his actions of sacrificing his men, killing the suitors and being ruthless throughout the Odyssey. Along with many others qualities these three are helpful and necessary in a hero. A hero must be willing to do service for others and put the needs of others safety and protection before his own. Odysseus does not even come close to matching these qualities because he is a person, who only serves of himself, and he sacrifices his allies to achieve his goals and often he takes action ruthlessly.
It is hard to imagine a world where heroes did not exist. Since ancient Greece, mythological heroes have inspired us to dream big and do great things. Two of the greatest heroes from Greek mythology are Theseus and Perseus. Throughout their lives, they are heroic. This includes their strange origin, or their stage in life where they are on a quest. Perseus was one of the first heroes in mythology, and proves to be the greatest.
The idea of a true hero is varied from person to person, because each viewpoint has a different idea of the personality that makes one a hero. There have been many fiction and non-fiction heroes that show different character traits, which influence people’s definitions of a hero. However, each person’s unique thought about a hero still focuses about one central idea: a hero must prove himself in order to earn his heroic status. This is the cornerstone of all the opinions about heroes because heroes have to show their heroism in order to become who they are in the end. At the beginning they are inexperienced, ordinary people who go on their adventures, and face their fears and weaknesses, but they develop greatly throughout these journeys. After comprehending what true heroism is and following it only then will they become heroes even though each of them has different traits. In the epic poem The Odyssey, by Homer, Odysseus gains the title of hero during his journey back to Ithaka, from Troy, by proving to be one. It is through his characteristics and experiences that he becomes the well developed man at the end of the book. In truth, because of his confidence, loyalty, and difficult struggles, Odysseus becomes a genuine hero to the people he defended.
The first hero I will compare him to is Jason, who had a similar adventure. His adventure was made to claim a throne that was rightfully his, just like Odysseus' adventure to get home to Ithaca and regain his throne. They both faced many perils on the sea, and both persevered to reach the end of the journey and gain the throne.
The story of Perseus’ quest to defeat Medusa, is one of great peril. Following the birth of King Acrisius’ daughter Danaë, a priestess notified him that he would be killed by Danaë’s son. For fear of this, Acrisius trapped his daughter in a house of bronze to prevent her from having a child. This was ineffective and Danaë gave birth to Zeus’ son Perseus. When Acrisius discovered the child he was furious and locked Perseus and his Mother in a chest. The chest was cast into the sea. The two drifted until they came upon an island where the family lived for years. Polydectes, the king of the island, fell in love with Danaë and devised a plan to kill Perseus. His plan convinced Perseus to slay Medusa, a Gorgon, and give him the head as a wedding
Hercules the great hero and the son of the great god Zeus, was the most famous of all the Greek mythological heroes. Hercules was known for his strength, bravery, and adventuresome personality. Hercules like most heroes had a god as their father, and he had a mortal mother named Alcmene. Hercules like most heroes was not an ordinary mortal and a good example was his superhuman strength.
Perseus who was the son of Zeus and Danae, was thrown into the sea by his grandfather. An oracle had said to the grandfather that Pursues was going to be the one to kill him and take his throne. Perseus and his mother Danae were thrown into the sea where they washed up on a beach where King Polydectes found them. King Polydectes had then begun to fancy Perseus mother, Danae. The King, however, was embarrassed to show any affection toward his mother Danae while Perseus was there. So the King requested him to go and Slay the monster Medusa. He believed that Perseus would fail and would have Danae all to himself (Wilk 19-20). But, the gods intervened and helped Perseus. Hermes gave him a curved sword, Athena a mirror-like shield, and Hades gave him a helmet that would turn him invisible. Perseus went to Medusa’s cave and succeeded in killing Medusa. The shield Athena had given him served it’s purpose in acting like a mirror, and allowed Perseus to see Medusa and without being turned to stone.
