The human being works to improve itself; to better the natural abilities and develop new skills to give them a leg up in this world. A growing number of healthy people have begun using cognitive enhancers to gain a mental edge their competitive lives. Performance enhancing drugs were introduced as a means to improve the human body and biological functions. These enhancements are meant to increase abilities that are lacking, and majority of brain enhancing drugs only work on those whose skills are underdeveloped. Those who have advance abilities already remain relatively unchanged. Whether there is a measurable change or not, the feeling of believing that one is bettering themselves easily becomes an addiction. Throughout a life time the brain is subjected to injury and strain over and over. This puts risks on the health of the brain, which drastically affects the health of the person. A drug meant to improve aspects a single area of the brain can severely damage that area or hinder the functions in another area of the brain. This places even more strain on the brain, which can lead to serious negative repercussions.
There are multiple different types of enchantments drugs that aim for one area of the body, that end up attacking and harming the brain. Anabolic hormones are used to promote excess muscle growth to the body. Anabolic steroids work to add muscle mass by increasing the amount of testosterone in the body by 1,000-1,5000%. These steroids usually end up repressing the secretion of majority of thee hormones secreted by the pituitary gland, especially human growth hormone, which stifles development.
