Patty Murray “A clean environment is essential to a high quality of life for every American.” This is a quote from Patty Murray which means that some goods, like houses, a good job, and a car can be earned, but a clean environment, clean water, fresh air, and so on are goods that can be scarce in some places and that these goods are as well essential for a good lifestyle. Patty Murray is a good influential figure because she has many goals, including for the environment to become cleaner. Murray was born in October 11, 1950 in Bothell, Washington. She tried to work hard to maintain the country in a good state. Patty’s father was World War II veteran. In 1992, she ran for United States Senate with the motivation of families that were not heard. She was re-elected as senate in 1998, 2004, and 2010. She was known for working very hard for her goals no matter what happened. She was also known for representing complex problems (such as pollution) in Americans’ daily lives. She as well had several goals like: Making better environmental laws, so that the problem would not get worse, Senator Murray knows that today the world is facing a lot of issues when it comes pollution, so she puts her best efforts to deal with this problem in a efficient way. She had several accomplishments. For example, she fought for the Clean Air Act, and the Clean Water Act so that they could not get legislative attacks. She increased federal supports to increase the time to clean the Hanford Nuclear Reservation to protect its surroundings and nearby residents. She also founded the Pacific Coastal Recovery Fund. And finally, she helped to create the Northwest Straits Initiative to help recover some marine
