Pamela Duckworth's Grit?

What is grit? Grit is having the ability to persevere and overcome obstacles with mental strength ,courage and other strong personality traits. Pamela Duckworth believes that having the character trait called grit is they key to all success. Her claims further continue with the fact that nothing really matters , but as long as you have grit you will prevail. By this I mean test scores, class rank or any rank ,experience, talent/ability all fall to the hands of grit. She runs a series of test on multiple people her most famous or most widely known would be on Westpoint students. Duckworth found that the “grittier” students stayed while the less gritty students tended to quit. Another test she had done was on spelling bee kids and her claims were that the kids who showed more grit by studying more prevailed more than the children who were naturally gifted or worked less. I do however, agree with Ms. Duckworth to a certain extent. It is true that you have to have some grit to be successful, but she raises a few questions. Getting into West Point isn’t easy by far and it takes a massive amount of grit to even attend the school,but there are more factors that can make a person quit then the amount of grit they possess. Factors include culture, race, family ,and so on. These factors can make it challenging for different people to succeed in the world. It takes more grit to quit because quitting is an obstacle they would have to overcome in the long run after they worked so hard to get there. Duckworth who never officially said it but it is inferred nonetheless, that quitting is not okay. I totally disagree with that due to personal experience I know that it is okay to quit sometimes under certain circumstances just not all of the time.
