Introduction
Thesis:(End of Introduction) The theme of Hamlet is that betrayal leads to revenge and revenge can sometimes backfire because when someone is being selfish and self centered they think only of themselves they don't see the needs of others so they end up being deceitful toward those who they don’t mean to hurt. By using certain diction that upper class people would use, William Shakespeare shows that the higher you are in society, the more the power goes to your head and lead to arrogance and deceit. Shakespeare is still relevant today because the society we live in today still has a hierarchy based on power and wealth.
King Claudius Murders the Past king who is hamlet's father, Hamlet's father's ghost comes to him and tells him he has been murdered by his brother. Hamlet is so emotionally disturbed due to this occurrence. Queen Gertrude “ Hamlet, thou hast thy father much offended.” This is her taking The king's side and not caring about her dead husband.
