Our Lady of Fatima is the title for the Blessed Virgin Mary based on the apparitions the children had experienced in Fatima, Portugal in 1917. The three children were Lucia dos Santos, also known as Sister Lucia of Fatima, and her two cousins Jacinita and Fransciso Marto. During the spring and summer of 1916, the children were out herding sheep near Fatima and they experienced the visitation of an angel three times. The angel revealed himself as “The Angel of Peace” and taught them the spiritual ways of living such as prayer, sacrificing and how to spend time adoring the Lord. The next year, on May 13th, the children claimed to have saw a woman “brighter than the sun, shedding rays of light clearer and stronger than a crystal goblet filled with the most sparking water and pierced by the burning rays of the sun.” The woman told the children to devote themselves to the Holy Trinity and pray the Rosary every day. During her appearances to the children she tells them twice that they need to pray their rosary to bring peace and end war. People are faithful to this theme because bringing peace to world can only happened through the Christ. If could bring all people toward Christ, then we would be able to achieve world peace. Also, if peace is achieved are hearts will be opened and we will come to love one another as brothers. Peace isn’t just the absence of war, it is the reign of Jesus in all individuals in the world. If Jesus can reign over society, then we will be fully recognizing Him as the Diving Being who has the right to command us humans.
