“Rouse him: make after him, poison his delight, Proclaim him in the streets; incense her kinsmen, And, though he in a fertile climate dwell, Plague him with flies: though that his joy be joy, Yet throw such changes of vexation on't, As it may lose some colour”, This is just a little glance to show Iago’s evilness towards other Characters in the Story ‘Othello by William Shakespeare”. Othello was written during Shakespeare's Great tragic period and othello is set against the backdrop of the wars between Venice and Turkey that ragged in the latter part of the sixteenth century. It’s tragic because Iago keeps pushing Othello feelings and convinces him more and more that Othello's wife Desdemona is cheating on him with Cassio, Which is Othello's Lieutenant which results in the play ending in a tragedy. Iago is a very jealous person and he does everything he can to make sure satisfied and happy, and he does by developing stories and lies to ruin othello's life. The way he does this is convincing Othello that Desdemona is really cheating on him, Iago comes up with a lot of different stories or lies to finally get it through to Othello that his wife is really cheating on him. This makes it's a tragic mood because Iago pushes Othello to go insane about everything and the result of him going insane is that He went and stabbed his wife Desdemona and Went on to kill himself. It was a tragic tone throughout the whole play and it ended in a tragedy. Shakespeare uses Figurative language in many way throughout the play, one way he uses it is to show that how evil and immoral Iago is towards othello especially and other characters. Iago is driven by jealousy and in this quote he proves it by saying “Oh, beware, my lord, of jealousy It is the green-eyed monster which doth mock The meat it feeds on. (3.3.166-168) “.He uses types of figurative language to get his point across that Othello is getting cheated on by his wife
