I tried to mean that there was a difference between ritual and belief in the Roman religion that it was a polytheistic religion, and so it had many deities for rituals. The custom of rituals was prevalent and desirable because the believers had to go to an altar and/or temple to worship and fulfill their rituals depending on their deities. In this manner, there was a mechanism of an orthopraxy, which was “the focus upon standardized ritual rather than standardized belief.” The belief was only a belief providing the believers a sense of a religion, although ritual demanded action to be performed by the believers. Furthermore, the rituals should be done at the temple and /or altars, although the believers might have a belief inside
