Optimal Sex Kleinplatz et al. conducted research on what exactly optimal sex consists of. They expressed that at the present time, there is a lack of knowledge on this topic, beside everybody on the big screen is able to have optimal sex. Optimal sex is defined by Kleinplatz et al. as “what is beyond functional, beyond positive and satisfactory, beyond good” (2009, p.1); they further expressed that is of higher quality and a higher form of good sex (Kleinplatz et al., 2009, p.1). The hypothesis presented by Kleinplatz et al. stated the reasoning behind the research was to understand optimal sex to benefit individuals hoping to achieve optimal sex with their partner, and clinics trying to help patients as well (Kleinplatz et al., 2009, p.2). The initial study, implemented in 2005, surveyed thirty people, who proclaimed they have “great sex”; the initial finding of these thirty people found six different components of optimal sexuality. The list starts with number ten, and appears to be in descending order, i.e. number ten is good, number five would be better, and number one is the best.
