Online Dating Can Be Dangerous
My best friend Lauren meets many guys off of Tinder, and most don't go so well. Tinder is just one of many online dating sites people can use. But are dating sites really that good at long term relationships? Getting into a relationship with someone online is more dangerous compared to getting into one with someone you met face-to-face. People online can lie about anything, like their actual age, what they look like, or what they like.
Now Lauren would disagree with that statement, even though she is the one with bad experiences from Tinder. Firstly, they can lie about their age and appearance. Lauren went on a date with this super attractive guy (from his pictures) who said he was 21-years-old, 6'2, and had blue eyes. They were supposed to meet at Starbucks, Lauren got there 10 minutes before the scheduled time so she could see who this "Brian" guy was before he saw her. But she never found her "Brian," instead this 40-year-old man came up to her and said "You are even more beautiful in person compared to your pictures." This guy was around 5'7 and did have blue eyes but he was not 21. Lauren tried to leave but he kept blocking her or holding her down. She finally said she had to get money from her car and left. Its obvious to see how they look right away, how they communicate with others, and their personality. While online dating, they can lie about any of these. The person might be friends of a friend who recommends them. Or, go together to meet up in a group and see if you like them from there. Traditional dating allows you to quickly decipher some important information about a person of interest.
