Twenty-one years ago, over ninety-five million people turned their television sets to local and cable news channels to watch a historic car chase through Los Angeles. The police were chasing a famous football player and actor by the name of Orenthal James (OJ) Simpson as he sat in the back seat of a 1993 white Ford Bronco holding a gun to his head. The owner of the Bronco and long-time friend Al (A.C.) Cowlings was driving, aiding and abetting the fugitive. Five days before the famous car chase OJ Simpson was accused of killing his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman in front of her residence. The low-speed chase lasted two hours and ended in front of Simpson’s home without incident. With Simpson captured and behind bars, the stage was set for the trial of the century. Like any marriage, this soon caused many problems with the relationship. Nicole had a bad temper and the world found out later that their beloved football star, OJ Simpson had a worse temper. OJ not only became unfaithful to Nicole, he also became abusive. Nicole was seen several times with marks and bruises on her body from OJ. On January 1st, 1991, Nicole made an emergency 9-1-1 call reporting OJ for abuse (Hunt, n.d.). When police arrived, Nicole ran out from behind some bushes of their home covered in blood insisting that OJ was going to kill her. OJ quickly came outside and insisted that the bruises came from a mutual wrestling type fight. He became enraged once he found out he was going to be arrested and snuck out a side door and drove away. The next day he was apprehended. During that fight, Nicole wrote in her statement that OJ threatened to kill her. Although this incident landed OJ with two years of probation, the abuse continued until Nicole filed for divorce in
