Once a talented football star, beloved by the nation turned cold blooded killer, who slaughtered the mother of his children. OJ Simpson was thought to be one of the best football players, but on the night of June 12, 1994, how Americans perceived him, would change forever. On that fatal night, Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman both got brutally stabbed to death. Ex- husband, OJ Simpson was immediately a prime suspect in the case. On June 17, after an intense police chase, Simpson was arrested and charged for murder. The trial began on January 24, 1995 and after months of back and forth, OJ Simpson was acquitted on October 3, 1995. In the 1994 controversial court case of OJ Simpson, the innocent verdict incorrectly acquitted Simpson due to the neglect of copious amounts of DNA evidence, testimonies from close friends and allies, and Simpson’s own confessions and behaviors. A copious amount of DNA evidence left at the scene of the crime and at the Simpson residence proves Simpson’s involvement in the murders. Because Simpson has already been acquitted, the constitution protects him from being retried, but this does not allow him to just walk free. The Goldman family has already filed and won a civil lawsuit against him, initially winning 33.5 million dollars. Now due to interest, Simpson owes just under 70 million dollars. There is nothing more to be done for the Simpson case, but Americans can learn from this case. Even a beloved celebrity is capable of committing a horrific crime, it is now up to American citizens to ensure that they don’t get away with it
