Task 3: (P9)
a) Equipment such as switchgear can be worked on safely by ensuring a range of actions have taken place. The equipment used on the high voltage lines are the same.
a. Create a safety program
b. All of the sources of current to the equipment should be isolated and signs need to be fixed to ensure that the nature of the equipment is known
c. Ensure that the equipment is isolated by proving it
d. Ensure that all necessary earth connectors are then attached to the isolation points and any overhead wires
e. The permit of work is to be issued to allow the work to go ahead. It must include marking the point of work as well as showing the competent person the safety arrangements that are in place for the duration of the work
f. Complete work
g. Make the work safe and check that this is the case
h. Destroy the permit to work as well as cancelling it
i. Place equipment back in a state that will allow normal operation.

The first method of insuring a correct reading is obtained is through using one wattmeter on a balanced load. Using this on an unbalanced load will lead to an inaccurate reading for power. To complete this method a reading with a wattmeter connected from a single line to neutral via the voltage probes and in line with the line on the current probes. By multiplying the value of the wattmeter by three the total system power is found.
The second method of measuring three phase power is the useful for both balanced and unbalanced loads. By connecting a wattmeter with its current probes in series with red phase and volt probes between red and yellow phase. The second wattmeter should be connected with its current probes in series with the blue phase and the volt probes between the blue and yellow phases. By adding these two values together there total power for the system can be
Stirling Bridge had been a thriving power tool business for over 100 years. The company had sold and distributed power tools and equipment all over the U.S., Europe, and third world countries. Recently one of Stirling Bridge’s top selling products, the Braveheart power tool line, came under attack when consumer agencies conducted research and found many consumers who purchased the power tools were experiencing significant harm and personal injury after use. Stirling Bridge (STIRLING BRIDGE) had identified potential safety concerns with their power tools and hired an independent research company to investigate why consumers were being injured using their power tools, well before the company came under the attack of public agencies.
2010 was the year for Jets fans they made it out of the regular season and into the playoffs, all the way into the Conference Finals. But no surprise, the Jets came up short again, losing to the Pittsburgh Steelers 24-19. After that, it all went down hill. The rankings of the Jets defense and offense decrease and with that so does their record, 8-8, 6-10, 8-8, 4-12, 10-6(glimps of hope), 5-11. With the decrease of wins most people, me included, you lose hope, and wonder when is that next year going to happen. If you want the easy answer as to why there is such a big difference between the years, just look at the Jets overall rating. It is like a roller coaster, from good one year to bad the next. But the real question is why was there this

Analyse the need for selecting the different voltages used for different parts of the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity. Three Phase Systems Assignment 1 D1 Sean Smith JLR Electricity is the most used source of power in the modern world. We something that is connected too electricity practically all of the time in the modern era from mobile phones to the lighting in our homes. Thinking about where our electricity comes from is something that we never really think about but the cycle that electricity goes through before reaching us is quite a long process.
· B-phase transformer (EMTU-TT01) · Feedback electronic wattmeter · Multi-range moving-iron ammeter · Instrument voltage transformer THEORY AND INTRODUCTION ----------------------- Transformers are used all over the world to step-up and step-down electricity. The transformer is one of the most commonly used electrical devices. The reason the transformer is so popular is because they range in size from 240V to well over 240kV, stepping -up and stepping-down electricity all over the world.
To safeguard the EAF electrical system from the primary power supply are two types of switches: a vacuum switch and a motorized disconnect switch. These two switches are designed to isolate the EAF electrical system from the primary transformer in case of an emergency.
Maximum Demand is the power consumed over a predetermined period of time, which is usually between 8– 30 minutes. The most common period of time, in the majority of countries, is 15 minutes.
Since early 2003 the Electrical Inspectorate has been working to raise public awareness of Residual Current Devices (RCDs), with the aim of eventually enforcing the use of these devices as recommended by the standard adopted by the St. Lucia Bureau of Standards for wiring of buildings SLNS/BS 7671: 2001- Requirements for Electrical Installations ¡V IEE Wiring Regulations ¡V Sixteenth Edition. These Regulations though only recently adopted by the Bureau of Standards is the Regulations referred to by the St. Lucia Electricity regulations of 1973 as the standard of wiring of buildings. For a very long time the cost of these devices had proven prohibitive for the enforcement of the requirement. However, it is now believed that safety concerns as it relates to electrical hazards such as fire and electrocution far outweigh the cost of these devices

Operational restrictions at light load may assist the coordination calculations e.g. most large HV motors would not be running, hence their starting performances need not be considered, when switchboard feeder circuit breakers are being examined.

Wherever necessary, participate in the Lock, Tag, Test, and Try process for energized equipment. Verify lockout locations and make sure your personal control lock is installed at the correct spots. Most installations are performed outdoors in possibly wet conditions. When working in these areas with electrical tools, use ground fault circuit interrupters.
