Many other people who have not been exposed to programming tend to see software developers as non-creative, like all other STEM majors. Those people are wrong about programming because it does require a significant portion of time for creativity to develop new ideas and ways to problem solve issues. What do people think about Christian software developers? They may think that a Christian software developer is just like any other software developer. What those people do not know about Christian software developers is: their mentality of the world and their vocations outside of programming. Christian software developers understand the the corruption of the world and the need to bring the world into shalom for the kingdom of God, as said by Plantinga. A reformed Christian software developer would partly agree with that statement, because they can see how Christian software developers can appear to be the same as any other software developer. They would mostly disagree with that statement because a Christian software developer has a different mindset of the world, because he/she seeks to bring the world into shalom and has a thought of his/her vocation in this world since he/she longs for something. Since programming requires creativity, Christian software developers are similar to what non-software developers do. They also have hope like non-software developers do, which takes imagination, faith, and desire, as said by Lewis Smedes. However, Christian software developers may have stronger longings for the world than non-software developers. This may lead them to have a more enhanced hope for software development.
