Nike Debate Nike severed its contract with Saga sports,it's chief supplier,saying Saga’s poor management exposes Nike to the threat of child labor and other labor violations,Their has been an on-going debate regarding Nike and it's use of child labor to manufacture its products , I believe that United States consumers should buy Nike products that have been manufactured with the use of child labor because it’s culturally acceptable and expected for children to work in Third World countries and the families in Third World countries depend on this work for survival. One of the reasons we should continue to support Nike because it is culturally acceptable and expected for children to work in Third World countries. In other cultures, children are expected to work together with their parents. This happens not only out of financial need, but also as part of the family’s work ethics. Even if a boycott is well-intention, on a practical level it might be wrong to force companies to dismiss their child workers. The main cause for children doing work is poverty “they're survival, and that of their families,depend on it.”(Monroe 112). This body of evidence proves that Third World countries are filled with poverty and that's why they do the child labor. And by doing the child labor it keeps them and their families alive.In conclusion by using child labor Nike is keeping their families
