(4) In Nick Anderson’s cartoon, he is able to convey the idea of how politicians and humans alike are ignoring the unsettling fact that climate change is very real and is happening right in front of our very eyes. He shows how mankind is very clearly able to see the effects of our actions, such as, melting ice caps, habitat alteration, and diminishing quality of life for animals in affected areas. Despite these harrowing images, however, people have done nothing to change their behaviors or attitudes on the matter, and instead, turn a blind eye to protect their own comfort and convenience, and it is this kind of thought process that is destroying planet Earth.

In the novel Feed, by M.T. Anderson, we learn about a society in which everybody has a “feed”. The feed is like an internal cell phone implanted into your brain, except it can do much more. The main character Titus, along with his friends use their feeds to message each other, shop online, play games, and even watch TV right behind their eyes. However things take a turn when Titus and his friends are hacked by a protest group known as the “coalition of pity” while visiting the moon. Their feeds become damaged and unusable. All of a sudden their worlds are turned upside down and they don’t know what to do with their lives.
In the Pilot episode of Freaks and Geeks, Lindsay underwent many of the relatable choices and struggles high school students endure every day. During this episode, Lindsay was in a rough spot due to the death of her grandmother, and as a result she changed her normal decisions. This includes everything from what she wore to school to the types of people she associated herself with. Though many changes were occurring, one thing remains: her desire to appear unchanged by her parents. I enjoyed the intro to Freaks and Geeks because the conflicts were engaging, and the introduction was easy to follow.
An extremely ironic cartoon was featured by Mick Stevens in the issue of February 26th, 2018. Stevens has started his works in Oregon with little success; however, his works are now known by many people, and recently, he features a cartoon portraying three grim reapers with one of the three lying death on the ground with the caption “You never think it’s going to happen to you” (50). Not only that he is appealing to logos and pathos, but he is prevailing that one does not get the exception to the works that he/she does in life.

Humans and animals share this beautiful planet that we call home. But this beautiful home of ours is being regularly and increasingly torn apart by our own ignorant actions. These actions of ours have begun to unravel the very world in which we live, causing a self-inflicted crisis known as Global Climate Change. Political cartoons are almost always drawn from the ideas of the public. Because of their significance to an event in time, they can be examined to reveal the opinion of the people during the time frame. The first part of this essay discusses what the human species has done to deal with the problem of climate change.
