“The Prince” by Niccolo Machiavelli is a great piece of work that is widely known as one of the key books on how to lead. The book is effectively a how-to manual that describes the certain characteristics that are desired for a person to lead well. Machiavelli offers quite a bit of insight on how to lead and questions whether people are strong enough to lead. “The Prince” while a good manual of how to lead at the time is now somewhat outdated. Although many people would probably relate w out the ideas of Machiavelli to keep themselves in charge, would be appalled if the same practices where demonstrated on them. The skills of a prince are being a strong leader and to have perseverance. These two skills are ideal of a prince because they truly demonstrate how a person builds an empire around them. If a prince were to inherit leadership through someone else’s virtue they must have the ability to continue the leadership successfully. This is an example of conquest by fortune, meaning that the person in front of the prince directly gave the prince his power. Secondly the prince must be a powerful leader because he must have the ability to lead. This ability to lead is a very important skill because it demonstrates how the rest of your leadership will go. If you lead and people do not like what you are telling them they will start to resist your changes. The real skill is the ability to make the people listen to what you have to say without having them rebel against you. If they were to rebel a true prince would have the ability to be able to squash the rebellion and continue leading how he wants to.
