Recommended: The importance of academic skills

-New York State Regents Exam assess the mastery of New York State learning standards. -The test are in different subject areas such as Mathematics, English, Global and U.S History and science.
-Students must pass 5 regents exams to graduate. They can receive an advanced regents diploma if they pass extra exams in math, science, and foreign language.

The New York State Regents Exam tests content areas. Assure that students understand the material and content.
They are aligned with the NYS learning standards.
Certain test must be passed to receive a regents diploma at Graduation.
The test is administered to high school students.

-The test consists of multiple choice questions on content area. Written responses are also used. Labs are used …show more content…

Part 2, 3, 4: show work to math problems

The test is scored on a 100 point scale.
Students must get a 65 to pass the test.
The score is based on the number of correct answers on the test, the level of difficulty of the questions, and the skill each question measures.
Students with disabilities can get between a 55-64 to pass.
Students with disabilities and IEP’s may qualify to take the Regents Competency Test for a local high school diploma. Students with disabilities who fail the Regents exam can meet requirements for graduation by passing a RCT.

Every students is tested on the same subject area.
Goals are set for teachers. Teachers know what areas they have to teach and all students are learning the same material.
Students are taught to synthesise information. Students are able to use multiple sources. Students also develop writing skills in the essay portion of the test.
Some argue the Regents exam prepare students for college and college exams.

- Students with different academic skills are being tested the same. Honors students take the Regents exam. Some find it too easy while other students find it too
