Christianity and New Spirituality are both very different worldviews. A worldview can be defined as a pattern of ideas but also a patterns of beliefs, convictions, and habits that help us make sense of God, the world, and our relationship to God and the world. A religion can also be a worldview but a religion is also very different from a worldview. It can be defined as a system of belief that attempts to define the nature of God and how human beings can understand and interact with the divine; any system of belief that prescribes certain responses to the existence (or nonexistence) of the divine. They believe in one God: the father, son, and holy spirit. Their place of worship usually happens in a church, chapel, or cathedral. Their leaders who are responsible for the teachings of the christian religion can be priests, bishops, ministers, monks, and nuns. Just like other religions Christians have a holy book called the bible. Any and every religion has someone that they follow. Even atheists. Atheists believe that they don’t need to follow a God which lets me know that they are their own god. The Christians have only one god and he goes by the name of Jesus Christ. Christians also believe that when man is born he has inherited “original sin” because when Adam ate from the fruit on the tree that he wasn’t supposed to eat from he brought sin into this world. It formed in 1960 C.E. and originated in the United States. Recent surveys of US adults indicate that many Americans hold at least some of the new spirituality beliefs. Eight percent of Americans believe in astrology as a method of foretelling the future. Seven percent of americans believe that crystals are a source of healing or energizing power. Nine percent of americans believe that Tarot Cards are a reliable base for life decisions. New Spirituality has many beliefs such as monism and also pantheism which is all that exists is God; This leads naturally to the concept of the divinity of the individual, that we are all gods. They don’t seek God as revealed in a sacred text; they seek god within the self and the entire universe. They also believe in reincarnation which is when you die you will come back reborn in a new form whether it’s another person or even an animal. They also believe in karma which is basically what comes around goes around so if you do something good or nice you will have good fortune but if you do something really mean or bad you will have really bad fortune come to you. They believe in aura which is an energy field radiated by the body. Some practices that new spirituality practices is channeling and meditation. Many celebrities are into new spirituality.
