Nelson Mandela is one of the greatest moral and political leaders of our time. A man who has dedicated his life to fight against the racial problem in South Africa, the man who became the world’s most famous prisoner, a man who won a Nobel Peace Prize. The written report of Mandela’s life of a continuing oppose for justice, a story many setbacks, and him being able to overcome a ton of adversity.
Nelson Mandela was born in a clan in Mvezo, Transkei on July 18, 1918. He began his studies to receive his Bachelors of Arts Degree at the college of Fort Hare. But he did not get it because he was expelled for joining in on a student protest they had there.

He was only allowed to watch secretly as the the Freedom Charter was adopted in Kliptown, South Africa. On December 5, 1956, Mandela and 155 others were arrested and went on trial for treason. The next year, many police opened fire on peaceful black protesters in Sharpeville, killing 69 protesters. Riots soon took over the country in the massacre’s aftermath, so the government banned both the ANC and the PAC.
The following July in 1961, police went through an ANC hideout where Mandela was hiding. They arrested a racially diverse group of MK leaders. Evidence was found showing that Mandela and many others who were brought for treason. Mandela and seven other defendants narrowly escaped the gallows and were instead sentenced to life imprisonment during the “Rivonia Trial.”
