Nelson Mandela lived an exceptional life as a South African revolutionary, president, and an inspiration to people all over the world. Mandela faced lots of discrimination from white people just like the black people did in the United States. Mandela didn't like the way he and his people were being treated so they decided to do something about it. The ANC was then formed, Mandela was hesitant to join at first because he thought it would be violent. This shows how truly caring Mandela was and only wanted to fight for rights in a peaceful way. The South African government's response to the protests was violence causing an uproar of fighting amongst the government and ANC. Mandela had all of the qualities of a good leader not only was he courageous but he was confident. Mandela had the confidence to meet one on one with the South African government. All he wanted was freedom and he would do whatever it takes, this gave him lots of confidence. Mandela was very peaceful, even after all of the terrible thing the South African government did to him and all of the other black people he didn't want to get revenge on them. Finally, on May 9, 1994 all of Mandela's hard work and leadership paid off. Mandela was elected president of South Africa after 27 years in prison and many hardships later mandela finally received what he wanted and deserved. The story of Nelson Mandela's life has so many great lessons that people can learn from. Mandela shows to people all across the world that good things come to those who wait, how to be a leader, and to never back down from what you believe in.
