Walmart is one of the biggest retail stores around the world. There are over 6,300 stores worldwide. Therefore, we must evaluate the impacts these stores bring to employees and consumers. Over the past couple of years, there has been thousands of law suits against Walmart for mistreatment of employees and even protests on building new Walmart’s in towns due to the negative impacts on communities. Walmart’s negative outlooks over the manufacturing companies, employees, and impacts on cities have caused controversy around the world concerning their services to their customers. Walmart employees have begun to file law suits against Walmart due to their mistreatment. Thousands of Walmart employees have complained about their wages being determined by their gender. More often than not, men have a higher pay than women working at Walmart. According to Congressional Digest article "Pay Equity Overview.", men got paid $49,398 against $37,791 which was women’s pay in 2012.In the article it claims that there are around 5,000 legal proceedings against Walmart each year. Which leaves costumers with bad reputation against Walmart for their poor treatment on their employees. Walmart employees often have a difficult time with their health care coverage provided by their employer. It was announced that Walmart 30,000 part-time employees and family members have lost their health care coverage stated in "Walmart to End Health Coverage for 30,000 Part-Time Workers." by Tabuchi, Hiroko. Walmart employees are often asked to work overtime and often won’t get paid for their extra hours they worked. In the article “Wal-Mart Stores hit by lawsuit that alleges it broke overtime laws with temp agency” released by the Canadian Press states that the law suit against Walmart was filed to the U.S. District Court of Illinois Eastern Division in Chicago. Small Companies are lost when a Walmart is built in small cities. The reason for this is due to the high competition Walmart brings to stores due to their convenience and cheaper prices which draw customers to Walmart. It is said by Ethan Wolff-Mann in the article “The New Way That Walmart Is Ruining America’s Small Towns” that a store in North Carolina lost 33% of sales soon after a Walmart opened. Crime reports at Walmart show that crime rates actually increase near a store. The “Walmart’s Crime Problem” by Pettypiece, Shannon, and David Voreacos, state that there are more than 200 violent crimes yearly. It is also claimed police reports show that there will be hundreds of thousands petty crimes in Walmart stores this
