Media is everywhere. We each have TV’s, listen to music, play video games, go to movie theaters, watch the news and they all expose a violent act somehow. It could simply be an opinion if media causes violence but it also depends on how something is perceived and who is perceiving it. In an article titled “The Government Should Strictly Regulate Television Violence” Rockefeller promises to “make more tools for families so that they have more control over what is allowed to be seen on television and give them more options” (Rockefeller). How our technology is so advanced today and continues to advance everyday, there are multiple ways parents can control what goes on in their children’s lives. In an article titled “Video Games Are Not Responsible for People’s Violent Actions” Ferguson says “humans were not programmed to be computers, just because someone picks up a gun and ends another human’s life does not mean we were programmed by a video game but because they …show more content…

The long-term affect of media violence could potentially push young kids into aggression, in an article titled “Violent Video Games Promote Teen Aggression and Violence” Craig Anderson says that “this type of violent media is allowing younger people to believe that what they’re seeing is positive therefore making it okay to act in such ways” (Anderson). What Anderson is trying to say is that the long term affects of media violence is letting kids think they can justify their behaviors because they have seen it before. This causes children to continue their violence and see things for not what they really are. The short term impact just shows their aggressive thoughts increasing and extra emotion whereas they become much more defensive as soon as they can relate a real life situation to a television show or a video game.
