In case the hospital fails to adhere to the compliances with in a given time period, the hospital fails to get the certification. NABH guarantees effective documentation and procedural direction.
NABH which is accredited by ISQUA, encourages medical tourism from other countries. NABH gives more clarity and sharpness to the process involved in medical tourism. It is hard to get any large or even small hospitals or labs to get accreditation, but it is even more difficult to maintain the compliances after getting. It not only involves professional groups but also the service providers and agencies to make sure quality in what they do is achieved and therefore decreases the risk involved in healthcare to a very great extent.
Successfulness, organized, getting things done at a low/ reasonable cost with out any damage to out come, responsibility, finding the root cause for errors and reducing the errors, improve in the aspects of safety can be done through quality. NABH is just not getting the certification or appreciation, it is the sustained improvement in the hospital clinical performance, reduction in the unwanted incidences is the main aim of the certification.
The accreditation process also involves capturing the data for certain quality indicators which actually shows where the hospital stands in terms of quality. Recently it has come up with 70 quality indicators each of which is related to particular department. The hospital infection rates includes: a) Ventilator Associated Pneumonia b) catheter Associated Urinary Tract Infection c) Central Line Associated Blood Steam Infection c) Surgical Site Infection. The patient needs to be assessed completely by the organization and can not deny any patient in case of emergency. The care given should be continues and it should be holistic. Under the same roof, the patient should get be able to get all kinds of care required. The out come of the care given should be evaluated periodically.
The hospitals should make the habbit of conducting continuous education for Doctors, Nurses and other staff to make them aware of the policies laid down by the organisation against the objectives given by NABH. The staff should be made skillfull, which inturn increases the indicators of performance of the staff. Evey organisation should have a vision, Mission, Quality policy and Service Standards. All these should be displayed and be made ware to the staff so that they all work towards the same, keeping in mind the organisations
