The job of being an NBA referee is a very prestigious job. The ability to officiate games of a sport a person grew up watching/playing can feel rewarding. Although it can be a very difficult job, having to make a call on a play that happens in the blink of an eye. Referees have to keep an unbiased side while officiating games. Along with staying true to their job and not favoriting certain teams or players. Can referee relations make games unfair? NBA referees’ relations with players/teams off the court cause games to be unfair, because it gives players/teams unfair advantages during a game. The officiating can be either for or against a player. Joe Crawford was said to favor Allen Iverson, due to the fact that his grandson was a fan of him and was even seen giving the player a high-five after the game (H.,Frederick). Background checks on referee relations with players/teams off the court, can prevent games from being officiated in an unfair manner. An important search may include finding where referee grew up to find their local favorite team, because having them officiate a game on their favorite team could lead to unfair calls. Along with this investigation another important search would be to find a referee’s leader favorite team. A simple background check can be done to help prevent these events from occurring. It is terrible for NBA fans to hear and find out information like this. Along with Iverson finding out that he was basically cheated against throughout most of his career. Also to The Kings who are said to have been cheated from winning a National Championship. It is for us to hope that this story breaking out will end any possible chance of this ever happening
Due to vast improvements throughout history, human rights has allowed people to freely speak their ideas and beliefs. Also, the transition from a modernized society to a more virtual society has allowed people to express their ideas more freely and have access to news from all over the world. Thus, people are entitled to their opinion, ideas, and beliefs. However, all expressed ideas have counter arguments for example in religion people might share different views based on their beliefs but they still have the security of their right to maintain their beliefs freely. Since society has took a dip in the virtual side of living, division due to power has strengthened through the use of social media. This has lead society into a dystopia, where control by a higher power is enabled. More over, associations such as the National Basketball Association have the power to enforce regulations on their players to maintain power and rule. For example, in recent years the NBA as enforced a strict dress code where players can no longer wear their desired choice of clothing but instead dress formal when entering and when leaving the stadium. Thus, from this action a dystopian environment is created, players no longer can express themselves freely and if they do they will be punished. Such regulations have caused higher authority over people inhibiting them from freely expressing ideas and beliefs which is completely wrong. People, especially players who are so highly valued, should be allowed the right to freely express themselves on interviews or even when dressing . This is because those who are allowed to freely express themselves are much more comfortable and happier.

Franchises are able to control their own destinies and have major advantages over city officials. This is what as known in the sports industry as the “uneven playing field”. City officials react to the offensive stra...
Several foreign basketball players have individually left their marks on NBA courts, in NBA record books, and in their fans’ hearts. Different ethnic groups, races, and sports fans in general have united, cheering on heroic efforts from players from overseas. These international players amped up the level of competition in basketball and found themselves at home in the NBA. Four international players have been honored with the most prestigious award a player can receive in professional basketball, NBA MVP. These same four players are undoubtedly future Hall of Famers and were listed in the top 30 international players of all time in a 2013 “Dime Magazine” article (Daruaku). These four players, Steve Nash, Tim Duncan,...
College athletes are manipulated every day. Student athletes are working day in and day out to meet academic standards and to keep their level of play competitive. These athletes need to be rewarded and credited for their achievements. Not only are these athletes not being rewarded but they are also living with no money. Because the athletes are living off of no money they are very vulnerable to taking money from boosters and others that are willing to help them out. The problem with this is that the athletes are not only getting themselves in trouble but their athletic departments as well.
Have you ever heard about racial discrimination and what is it? Racial discrimination is defined as the action of a persons who treat differently or who excludes another person just for his or her racial or ethnic origin. Racial discrimination continues to exist in the world and may never end with it. For example, in the documentary "Linsanity" Lin mentions that he was a victim of racial discrimination and that despite everything that happened, he was able to reach the American dream. Finally, from watching this documentary, I can strongly be argued that Discrimination is also present in sports, and that depends on what privileges you enjoy will be easier the way to reach what you want.
Finally, Basketball and Volleyball are two very popular sports and they are played by both genders. They both have followers and fans, but one of them has a greater amount of fans than the other one. There are many similarities in these sports such as the audience, followers and fans, and that both sports are played by boys/men and girls/women. Despite of having these similarities, they also have differences that distinguish them from each other, too. Basketball is a recognized sport from around the world and its popularity has been growing over the years compared to Volleyball, that is not very popular and it is not a game that people would choose to play with others. In addition to this difference, the physical contact in these sports is important, too.
There is nothing like watching a close sporting event. What if you found out the players you enjoy watching the most were not using their natural talent and were cheating?
I am choosing Adam Silver, because I think that he is in a big spot with many people watching him. Since there are so many young basketball fans, it is important for Adam to lead by example, and he needs to show the kids right from wrong. In my opinion, young kids are very easily influenced to one side. Next, being commissioner of the NBA is very closely related to being the president of the United States. On a day to day basis, Adam needs to make decisions not for himself, but for the better of the league. For example, at the beginning of the NBA season, players sometimes go on strike. If too many players strike, this forces a lockout where no games or events are held for that sport. Sometimes lockouts can last for half a season. Obviously
If we were to eliminate the racism and discrimination in professional sports, we would be taking
In an interview on the Mike Lupica’s radio show Kentucky’s head basketball coach John Calipari said, "All I can tell you is this: if it happens on your campus, and it happens with your assistants and those people, you probably have a pretty good idea of what's going on.” He also says, "If it happens back in their hometown, it happens back with their family or other ways, there's no way you can know. You just don't know. So all I would say is most coaches have an idea if it happened on their campus. You might not be the first to know about it, but you eventually hear about it.” This statement shows how much they really do know about athletes’ actions. If they don’t say anything about what’s going on but they know, that should cause some serious punishment for both school and
In conclusion, it can be stated that basketball is a sport that has a positive influence on individuals from a tender age right through their adulthood. The sport has improved the overall behavior and performance of young adults, teaches them teamwork and persistence. Basketball also brings unity in communities and races alike, and has a constructive influence on the economy as a whole.
It takes away a lot of free time that you may have with other jobs. Some of the general duties of a professional coach are being able to give back to the community, being able to spend extra time after practice with players to work on their skills or even talk game plans with the players. Some other duties would be to address the media after games or before a special event, also coming up with big decision on deciding young players to draft for your team to try and build a championship organization. Now when it comes to specific duties the number one job is to coach your players during the games also during close games you have to come up with the best end of game scenario to put your team in the best situation so you really have to out coach the other coach.

Since the beginning of time, people have been unjustly treated with prejudice. This is discrimination, and it has been a major issue in our world. Not only does discrimination occur in the workplace, schools, and religion, it also has been an issue in professional sports. Although there are still many examples of discrimination in sports, there have been improvements in the areas of racial, gender, and sexual orientation discrimination.
