Big Five Personality Model According to Myers-Briggs Personality Type Indicator or MBTI, the Big Five Model portrays five different dimensions within the human personality. These dimensions include conscientiousness, emotional stability, extraversion, openness to experience, and agreeableness. Mrs. Barra appears to score high on all five dimensions. A few examples that apply to Barra's personality trait assumptions include her role as CEO during a major General Motors (GM) scandal, her management tactics regarding culture change, her lifetime growth within the company, her GM innovative business plan, and Barra's overall personality peer review. Conscientiousness measures one's reliability. As a leader, it measures organization and dependability and showcases complete responsibility. Before Mrs. Barra was CEO of GM, she was the head of the GM Human Resource department. She noticed that GM maintained a ten-page document regarding the strict work attire policy. This trait includes behavior that showcases lack of concern or remorse for others, impulsive, and use of hard tactics and deceit to achieve one's needs or desires (Robbins, p.145). Mrs. Barra does not exhibit traits of psychopathy. Even though Barra is known for taking hard tactics during the GM ignition recall, this does not mean she is a psychopath. She assigned Jeff Boyer as VP of Global Safety and informed him, the board, and reporters that he would receive all resources necessary to identify and resolve any safety issues along with any obstacles he may face, he has the authority to clear them (Loftus, 2014). This hardline approach shook the culture of GM when the company under prior management took indecisive actions. However, Barra refused to maintain the old status quo and pushed for change.
