I am a student at the University of Pennsylvania, and I am writing in regard to the internship offered by your company, Façon Magazine. After learning about the position as an Online Writing and Blogging Intern through, I was excited by the opportunities by the opportunities it presents. Although I am currently studying the biological basis of behavior, I also have a passion for journalism. I enjoy the communications aspects that accompanies journalism and have a special interest in pop culture. I believe that, with my background, I can bring the necessary skills and a unique perspective to this position and your company.
I have a strong background in writing and communications, as can be seen in my résumé. I am currently working as a writer for The Daily Pennsylvanian. The articles I write are often event oriented, and I interview those running and those attending the event in order to provide a holistic perspective in my writing. With this publication, I write under strict deadlines and quickly, producing pieces for publication in less than twenty-four hours. The Daily

During this time, I managed a staff of approximately twenty writers. I gave assignments, enforced deadlines, compiled articles, and edited the final product. I am able to be quick and efficient when editing, and I feel as though my experience managing others will help me be a high achieving intern at your company. Before being Editor-in-Chief, I was also a writer for The Linden Ledger. My weekly column centered on pop culture with a heavy emphasis on music, fashion, and art. My own interests led me to this topic, and writing these articles has only helped my interest to grow. As a young student interested in fashion and the arts, I often have a different perspective than those writing on the same topic and feel as though my articles stand out for this
My progression as a promotional intern at Cumulus Broadcasting has been vast. Even, within the short duration of the summer semester I have obtain a great deal of knowledge in my field. As a Radio, TV, and Film major I had the perceived notion that the radio entertainment industry was glamourous. Although it wasn’t what I imagined, it fascinated me that the radio industry thrived due to thorough communication, planning, execution, professionalism, and leadership. From the beginning of Week 1 to the end of Week 12, I have increased my repertoire by participating in events around the community, creating content for Cumulus social media pages, and conveying confidence on-air.
In a developing mind, such as a child’s mind, reading and writing should be a fundamental part in their life. Being able to read and write is the gateway to learning other subjects such as math and science, because without the skill of being able to read and write, nothing else would make any sense. Personally, in my own experiences, I was always prefer reading and writing over math and science because when I was younger I had quite an imaginative brain and a good way to express that was through reading and writing. I believe that since I had more opportunities to read and write rather than math and science during my childhood lead me to be better at reading and writing. I have memories of reading and writing being a part of my childhood life
Over the learning curve I have gained knowledge on how to animate a character, set up a layout for a scene or even develop effective storytelling ideas for my short film thesis, this gives me the experience and the need to apply for a Production Assistant Internship or a Production Coordinator , since I am presently working as a Resident Assistant for the academy of art university for a year, which has taught me how to manage my time and be organized and maintain self-discipline, as a student who is striving to start contributing towards the industry either by being able to manage a production pipeline, I feel the need to be exposed to the real scenario and this is a gem of an opportunity, to begin with. If given this intern position, my mind will always be open to learning and adapting the teachings from the pioneers in the industry and strive for excellence. I will especially be honored and thankful to work with a team with such unique storytelling methods which will completely revolutionize my level of approach towards setting myself a career in this story telling business. I hope to be considered for this
The various media platforms and reporting interests at UC Berkeley provide students with myriad paths to take. For me, narrative writing and investigative reporting best fit my future goals. I have experience with both in academic and professional settings, and I know that at the Master’s degree will give me the tools to take the next step. I am excited about the curriculum, connections, and experiences that the program will provide me. Long-form narrative writing is becoming less of a focus in media, and that is a shame.
There are a number of positions and departments open to interns, and I am best qualified to intern in the editorial department. Between my past internships and my classroom experience I have plenty of clips that prove I am a capable, accurate and clear writer. I have embraced the importance of efficient story production
Take a Moment and think about writing and how often a day you write something down. You use writing when you pay bills, fill out an application, even text or post a something on Facebook. Writing plays a key role not only in education, but in life. Look at it this way, if the world had no writing I would not be writing this paper. The declaration of Independence would not be a thing, we would know nothing about history.
Growing up, I didn’t have much. My father was a high school drop out, and my mother was away in the Navy. What I did always have however, were stories and books, and lots of them that were read to me. Almost every night my grandma or my aunt would sit down and read me a story as I feel to sleep. I became attached to the books, knowing them by the contents inside and the front covers, even memorizing a few of them by heart.
It wasn’t until that moment I knew I would never be satisfied with just one area of interest to pursue as a career. I had to have it all. I knew I wanted to create a world within the range of the magazines and books that had inspired me for all of those years. Relatable and versatile in all subjects including life, pop-culture, history, photography, art, politics, and even science, working for or creating my own publication seemed like a perfect way to marry all my interests.
I have always been proficient when it comes to writing. I wrote a lot as a child; I enjoyed writing stories about my favorite characters in the afternoon cartoons I would watch as the sun began to set. Granted, as a young child, I could barely create a coherent sentence, but the concepts behind creating stories were present in my mind. This proficiency continued throughout all of my Elementary and Middle school career; I always received high marks on my writing, and even offered to help other students express their ideas. I learned most of my technique from other writers, mainly people who wrote fan-works of my favorite series.
While the engineering side of the company fascinated me, my most useful talent to the company was my English writing ability. However, I quickly learned that the job required much more than the writing skills I had developed in school. Over the course of the next month I immersed myself in the experience, and increased my skill and familiarity with concepts I had previously unexplored, including copywriting, marketing strategy, search
I learned to read and write at a pretty early age my parents and my grandparents taught me how to read and right. I was fortunate enough to have great mentors who actually took the time to sit with me and explain how important writing actually is for basically anybody. They explained to me that if I want to be successful in life and in my major I have to face the fact that I need to be a good writer and this was one of my hardest reality checks. One of my lessons learned in this experience is “Nothing gets worse when you practice it” that is what my grandmother always told me. I have not done all that much reading and writing as a fun thing to do, I have basically done those things as in for school.
Apart from the experience I have gained at LT Security Inc., my various internship positions have also exposed me to eye-opening responsibilities. For example, as a marketing intern at MySelf New York, I engaged in organized discussions with customers as well as colleagues in the pursuit of better promotional and marketing strategies. I have also gained experience with other matters such as employee coaching and assistance, employee relations, communication and implementation of policies and procedures during my time at Stony Brook University as intern in arts management and at Yunnan Changji Real Estate Co. Ltd where I served as an administrative
My internship experience as a promotions/communication intern at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland, Ohio was an outstanding experience that prepared me to utilize my skills, education and training in a professional environment. I had an incredible opportunity to be able to contribute my greatest strengths and assets to a one-of-a-kind nonprofit organization. I am going to discuss how my internship experience, through my daily practices, role and responsibilities, demonstrated an organizational communication theory.
I was first attracted to journalism because I didn’t want to be stuck in a nine to five job. Emily Rubens a correspondent for the BBC described her job as “busy” and “hectic” often due to the “stress of deadlines and a broken coffee machine” (Rubens). I first started working for my high school newspaper, it was such a large school that I got lost in the mess of other freshman contributing writers and most of my work was edited or never published at all. When I switched schools however I soon found a small team of other aspiring journalists and together we would sit in a crammed room with donuts for hours reaming out our school news. Thin computer sheets filled with news of soccer games and teacher pregnancies, bad weather and a bike accident. I was soon editor of the newspaper, a small staff of freshman writers where now mine to edit and decide if there work was good for publishing. In the summer before my senior year I traveled to London to study print journalism with other students. This experience changed my life because it solidified by choice to become a journalist.
It was not at all what I thought it would be and I honestly realized along the way this is not a department I would want to work in. The desk work and the constant time on the computer really turns me off from working in any department that entails sitting in one spot for six hours. To counter that I did go out to shoot promotional videos and I had the opportunity to go to some events that I would never be able to go to without 6abc, but the time spent at the desk really makes those events less intriguing. I was hoping to do a lot more on camera projects when starting this internship, but I spent a lot of time behind the camera which I was not used to. I do think that having this internship was very important because it taught me a lot about how much goes into promoting a news station. I now appreciate all of the people that aren’t on television because they do most of the dirty work. Our talent do write some of their stories, but their job seems a lot more relaxing than some of the other employees. I loved interacting with the talent more than anything because I hope one day to be in their shoes. Adam Joseph is such a sweetheart and I am honored to have worked closely with him on projects along with all of the 6abc talent. Watching them with fans at events make me even more driven to be the best I can be and get a fan base like they all have
