Jeremy Rifkin in the article " A Change of Heart about Animals" argues on the fact that as incredible as it sounds, many of our fellow creatures as like us in so many ways. For example, in a movie named Paulie a young girl that suffers autism gets attached to a parrot. The girl struggles to talk but she just can't. Time passes by and then the girl starts talking because the parrot helped her. An incident happened so the little girl's parents decide to let the parrot go. The parrot ends up in an animal testing lab but somehow he managed to escape. The parrot begins to miss his owner because he formed a bond with a human being. Obviously, this proves Rifkin is right when he states that animals experience feelings like human beings.

"The Case For Animal Rights" written by Tom Regan, promotes the equal treatment of humans and non-humans. I agree with Regan's view, as he suggests that humans and animals alike, share the experience of life, and thus share equal, inherent value.
In the article “A change of heart about animals” author Jeremy Rifkin uses rhetorical appeals such as ethos, logos, and pathos to persuade humanity in a desperate attempt to at the very least have empathy for “our fellow creatures” on account of the numerous research done in pursuit of animal rights. Rifkin explains here that animals are more like us than we imagined, that we are not the only creatures that experience complex emotions, and that we are not the only ones who deserve empathy.
In the article you published called “A Change of Heart about Animals,” Jeremy Rifkin states “Many of our fellow creatures are more like us than we had ever imagined.”. I agree and believe society should be more involved into the way we do things that involves animals. We need to be more aware about the animals and that they have feelings and emotions too and we should not be taking advantage of that. Rifkin stated a lot of good points and arguments. I honestly do not agree we should end all animals deaths, but I do believe there should be an awareness against animal cruelty.
In “A Change of Heart about Animals”, by Jeremy Rifkin, he attempts to argues that we should protect animals because of the suffering and pain they experience. While merely glazed at the surface, this article does point out that animals do experience pain, but while dissected at a deeper level, Rifkin’s hypocrisy is exposed.
In modern society, animal experimentation has triggered a controversy; consequently, vast amount of protests have been initiated by the animal rights community. Although these organizations have successfully broadcast their concerns toward animal experimentation, its application continues to survive. Sally Driscoll and Laura Finley inform that there remain fifty million to one-hundred million animals that experience testing or experimentation throughout the world on a yearly basis. But despite opposition, animal experimentation, the use of experiments on animals in order to observe the effects an unknown substance has on living creatures, serves multiple purposes. Those particular purposes are: research of the living body, the testing of products, and the advancement of medicine.
In 2015 there was a court case based on two chimpanzees, and if they should have the same rights as a human being. Animals having similar rights as humans is something really commonly talked about. Animals don’t really get treated the best ways at times. In the book “Animal Liberation” by Peter Singer has a good point of how equality doesn’t need similar treatment, but an equal consideration.
Animals experience emotion. Mother sea lions will cry when watching their babies being eaten by Orca Whales, and rats will help other rats in distress. People used to believe that animals rely only on instinct and that they don't have feeling or care about anything but their own survival. “Do Animals Have Feelings” an article by Klaus Wilhelm which talks about animal are able to feel as human in some similar ways. Wilhelm mentions that animal’s behaviors are noticeable that can be shocking which will lead to the questioning of several things in the animals nature. Elephants walk towards each other and flap their ears and make some sounds. That might mean that they are happy to see each other as Wilhelm says, “The whole event appears to be a family reunion.” Likewise, he includes that a few creatures continue touching a stillborn creature.
My views closely relate to those of what Cohen says because we have no right to intervene with the animal world or project our view of morality onto them, especially when it leads to a discrimination of rights. However this doesn’t mean we shouldn’t protect animals or care for them. We do these things for animals not based on their rights or our obligations, but because they feel just like we do.
This is just one of the countless barbaric tortures forced upon animals. Studies show that in 1994, over 3,500 animals were killed in the United Kingdom, with almost another 21,000 more used in France for cosmetic purposes only (Celebrities, 95). These numbers reflect totals in only two countries. Research by Congress estimates that as many as 22 million animals are used annually for experimental research (Testing, 96). This research is funded by over $5 billion in tax revenue (Bio-Med, 97).

I feel that animals are somewhere in the middle. Although they rely heavily on instinct, the ability to feel emotions shows that their mental capacity is not far from that of a human.
