My Reflection Of My Interview With The Teacher

In my mock interview with the principal he asked many questions that I thought, “Wow yes I do need to think about my answers more.” When I went in the first thing he asked was what my personal philosophy and I thought, “well it’s typed on my computer.” I was able to remember most of the general philosophy that I had. The hardest question I had was, what was the worst lesson you have even taught? I talked about a lesson I taught while my cooperating teacher was out for the day and I had a substitute. The students had also just given blood so they were unfocused and dizzy. Then he asked how I would change the lesson if there were a blood drive later in the school year. I always feel like it depends on the student’s exceptionality as to how I vary my lesson and how I help the student be successful in the lesson. I also never know what the answer is they want me to give. My teacher suggested that I mention that I would make sure to follow the IEP and then work collaboratively with parents and intervention specialists. I am also not sure if my classroom management method was a good answer either. I said that I like to set up a routine within the first few weeks of school, so that the students know what to expect. I like to write the goals on the board for the students to know what we need to accomplish for the class period. I said my main way of managing a classroom was to build a routine and follow it. When talking to my teacher she mentioned to say that I will set up consequences and then always following through with those consequences. I thought her answer was a good. I seemed to like my cooperating teacher’s answers better than the ones that I gave, which is why we do this. I have no idea how I did in general. I felt good about many of the answers I gave, but I have no idea whether they were what they were looking for. I guess the answers they look for vary for each district that you will interview
