My Mother As A Pediatrics

When I was about five years old, my parents got a divorce. I lived with my mother from the age of 5 to about the age of 12. Throughout those 6 or 7 years, I shared a home with 5 sisters. Under the support and protection of my mother, we were hardly financially stable. We were required to live for days and even weeks without electricity. With my mother working overtime, we had to prepare our own meals with the little resources that we were able to obtain. As a single mother with 6 children, my mother has tried her best to keep my sisters and I content. Although my she has done everything in her power to make my sisters and I happy, I don't want my children or anyone else for that matter to go through the same conditions that I went through. I want to have a successful life or career so I can thoroughly provide for my family and give them the contentment that they deserve. It is my mother’s actions that have made me come to the realization that anything is genuinely possible if you have the ambition and desire to do it. It is because of my mother that I, Jalyssa Smith, want to major in biology and become a pediatrician. A pediatrician is evidently a practitioner who specializes in Pediatrics. The word Pediatrics and its cognates are defined as the “healer of children” and in which are derived from the Greek words “pais” and “iatros”. ("History of Pediatrics.") It wasn't until 1861 when pediat... ... middle of paper ... ...ts to develop the right plan for their child. ( "Pediatric Salary.") If there was a career that I would choose to embark in for the remainder of my life, it would most certainly be a pediatrician. Pediatricians are intelligent, ambitious, generous and amiable individuals. Although the process of becoming a pediatrician is prolonged and continuous, it is also very rewarding. Exceptional pay and an affable working environment are the most significant among these rewards. Being a pediatrician has a great amount of advantages and benefits, but it also has additional disadvantages and overwhelming necessities. However, there are many factors that need to be contemplated before making the ultimate decision of becoming a pediatrician. Such factors include: education and financial needs. Overall, I could never imagine myself pursuing anything other than the medical field.
