When you ask people what you think when word “pharmacist” come to your mind? They often say pharmacist have to deal with variety of legal drugs. From my personal opinion, when I hear the word “Pharmacist”, I think of helping others. This inspiration came from my Health Science class I took in twelve grade. Until senior year of my high school, I did not know what I wanted to be. But it all changed, after my first shadowing experience at pharmacist station. There I learn about what exactly the pharmacist career is about, what are some of the equipments used in the field and how I can contribute the knowledge I receive here to help others.

The pharmacist was very friendly because he would listen to every bit of information given by the customers. In pharmacy field, it is important to be organized at job area, since there is lot of medications you have to deal with. If the pharmacist its not responsible for his work, then he will accidentally messed up and will give the medicines it to the wrong person. Keeping this in mind, I observe the pharmacist at shadowing station and he was perfect at his job. He check the label on the medicines twice before giving out to the customers to make sure his giving it to the right person. Watching this I was surprised because I learn that, whenever you do something, check and ask yourself “whatever I am doing, is it right ? .” Next, I learn how important is to keep good relationships with the people your working with. At shadowing station, the pharmacy technician was great supporter to the pharmacist because pharmacy technician manage the area of dosages, labeling, and medication dispensing. Mainly observing the pharmacist I feel that they care about the patients because when I saw the patients facial expressions, the patients felt trustworthy on the pharmacist.

Therefore shadowing few times in high school will come handy, when I become pharmacist because I learn how to use instruments that are use on day to day basis in pharmacist. The most important equipment I got to look at while I shadow was “Tablet Counting Machine”. Since, pharmacist job is to fill medical prescription; the best tool they can use is “Tablet Counting Machine” because this machines count the pills accurately and quickly without wasting time. Also the pharmacist I shadow was my relative so I did not only learn about what the pharmacist do from outside, but I got to ask questions personally and know more in details about the career. One of the best tip the pharmacist gave me was “ Pharmacy is job where you have to pay attention because your dealing with all the variety of different drugs, therefore not paying attention can cause risk to the patients life and death
