Motivation: The desire to be more successful is motivation for me,sure I could live in this comfort zone of my every day routine and be happy, but I want more out of life. Knowing I am here on earth to accomplish more then what I am doing at this time drives me to want to achieve my educational goals of earning a degree. Another major motivation is my son. I have the determination to keep fighting when thing get tough. I take pride in overcoming an obstacle that has given me issue. It has taking me over fifteen years to go back to school, but I have taken the rite steps to a new beginning. My commitment for achieving this goal will keep me putting the effort forth to finish school. Discipline: I have set alone time aside every night to follow up on assignments, check discussions and if I have every assignment completed ,then I will explore Ashford's website for extra resource that I may not have come upon yet. Not everything goes as planed, therefore, I have a back up plan of signing on at work over my lunch break. I made a promise to myself to never put off homework to a later time and finish it at that very moment even if I have more time to complete the assignment. Focus: Having the support of friends and family, taking a break for a moment, and reminding myself that getting upset will not solve the issue I'm encountering will help me to stay focused. My friends and family understand why I'm going back to school and will give me the support of encouraging words to keep me on track of my goals. Also, walking away and clearing my mind for ten minutes to calm down will redirect my focus. After the ten minutes I will try again. Overall, I need to keep in mind that getting upset will only cause me to stress more. In that case I will always try to remember to keep a level head

Motivation comes in all different forms, and it depends on how a person perceives it. Motivation can be anything, and affects each person differently. A person can have multiple ways of inspiration that encourage them to succeed. A person has to be at the right place in the right time, and it’s just a matter of finding it.
Motivation is the main element towards success. Students, scientist, teachers and/ or any individual who wants to reach a goal needs to be motivated/ambitious. This motivation/ambition is what guides and keep people going. This ambition may be geared towards inventing/creating something, obtaining more money, and/or succeeding. The ambition people have are good, but sometimes lead to bad consequences. These consequences set the relationship between action and ambition. But, no matter what the goal is people with ambitions will not stop until their goal is met. Ambition towards obtaining something is what motivates people. For example Victor Frankenstein wanted to create a human being. As Mary Shelley writes in "Frankenstein", Victor Frankenstein wanted to be "the first to break through life and death ideal bonds"(231). His ambition was to create a human and to break these boundaries. But most importantly, he wanted to be recognized as the first individual to do this. This recognition would make him famous forever. The only thing he thought of was to break the boundaries of life and create a human creature.
I learned that I am motivated in college by extrinsic goals, such as my family and friends. My second highest motivator would be task value. This is actually true for myself. The path I have taken toward obtaining my Bachelor of Science Degree in Business, Management, and Economics, with a concentration in Marketing, has been different than I expected when I first started college. I started at Brooklyn College at 17-years-old and frankly, I wasn’t ready for it. I struggled to balance an awkward schedule of classes and inconsistent study habits. I never felt completely comfortable there and after two years of performing poorly, I enrolled at Kingsborough Community College. I viewed it as a new start and seized the opportunity. I decided to major in Business Administration; I made the Dean’s List, and saw my grades improve dramatically. After completing 74 total credits, I decided I was ready to return to a four-year-college. I initially considered returning to Brooklyn College but at this time my grandmother had become ill. I applied to the College of Staten Island which was near her home and would make it possible for me to help her out with whatever she needed and attend school locally. This worked out great for my first semester. I carried a 3.47 GPA and decided to major in Business, with a concentration in Marketing. At this time, I was working part-time while in school. But due to certain circumstances, I was forced to obtain a full-time job in addition to other part-time commitment. This made it very difficult for me to enroll in classes as most of the upper-level marketing classes that I needed for graduation were only offered during the day when I would now be working. I enrolled in night and weekend classes for the next two semesters but my grades began to suffer. My goals in college are to get involved with student government, play lacrosse graduate in the top of my class all my life of being in school I was always active not just a regular student. Whether it was SGA or sports or volunteer work I was a part of it; all years of school levels I have graduated with honors and I do not want to see anything different now while I am in college. As we all know college is not a walk in the park and I am well aware of that. I have to really be on my game to accomplish my goal of graduating with honors. I am already on the way of my goal, I have already completed 3 business courses and am now on the process of taking one now. I have taken business law, introduction of business, and industrial business; I did not take them at Towson however they still transferred over as business courses.
For those reasons I pushed myself to find a career that I enjoy and love doing. I do believe that at times my motivation does shift to motivation 2.0, or extrinsic motivation because I do want to be rewarded with good grades, but I also know they aren't just handed that you must work extremely hard and have so much dedication to receive good grades, same goes for my job, life revolves around money I need it to survive so working hard and trying to be the best employee I can be, also so I can receive either a raise or a bonus at the end of the year is just the cherry on top to what I already enjoy

When my Freshman year came around my goal was to do well in school; I began educating myself in and outside of school. I start my biology and chemistry class with a four-year plan in mind. Two semesters in I was failing half of my classes.
Whenever certain situations cause overwhelming amounts of stress and difficulty, I can get discouraged and lose some of my optimism. Typically, I never give up under pressure, but the situations can upset and drain my emotions and energy. Sometimes I wished that work and school loads could be smaller, more manageable, and stress-free, allowing for more free time to spend living, doing fun activities, and enjoying time with friends and family. For example, since I now have so many classes and tasks, it can be difficult to keep up with everything that teachers want completed for each class. If each teacher could create a more comfortable workload for students, I believe that stress would be relieved, creating a completely different school atmosphere that is much more enjoyable, encouraging, and peaceful. However, since that is currently not the case, stressful events tend to discourage and upset me. Nevertheless, I know that learning how to manage my own emotions and adapting to my own and other people’s expectations will bring forth great results. After a while, the rewards of my diligence will be worth the efforts it took initially. As I mentioned, I have a PhD degree in Biochemistry and I’m in my career transition from a research scientist to a data scientist. Many people tend to set goals. They can set goals for their personal life, academics, or even for their professional lives. You can literally set a goal for pretty much anything you can imagine. I believe that people should set goals, they help you stay focused and want to do better for the future.
