My American Pluralism

The American Dream is the driving force for migration. Immigrants were under the impression that living in the United States would grant them a multitude of opportunities that their homeland could not provide. They were enticed by hopes for prosperity and a better life through continuing education and work. In today’s society, the various cultures mixed together to form this melting pot is proof of the attraction to the American Dream.

Networks and connections are established through the support of one another. These connections will deem itself beneficial in the future.

Immigrants speak so highly of this utopian world that they have never set foot in. Their views of American life have been distorted through manipulation of advertisement. In Empire of Care, Catherine Ceniza Choy discusses an ad featuring New York City landscapes such as the Manhattan skyline with claims that New York City is “where the world looks for the finest medical care” (102).
