“The Capabilities of Music” Music is important because it is capable of a number of health benefits and it helps in terms of physical, emotional, and mental capacity of one’s being. Music is inevitable in our daily lives. It helps us cope up with our daily living. Some people like listening to different genres of music, it may be pop, rock, jazz, or classical music, people still tend to listen to it. According to Harvard Health Publishing (2011), the human brain and nervous system are hard-wired to distinguish music from noise and to respond to rhythm and repetition, tones and tunes. According to Havighurst (2015), the media or technology is one of the reasons why music is being degraded. People tend to think that it is “just” music and think so lowly of it. If you compare the songs currently, from the songs of the 19 hundreds or 18 hundreds, I can say that their songs are much better. Yes, our songs are funky or groovy and hit. But if you look into the meaning of some songs, it’s basically about either love, sex, women, and etc. The songs lack meaning and it’s very disheartening to know that. Music nowadays gives a lot of benefits in terms of health, whether it’s physical, mental, emotional or a specific sickness, music can help cure one’s needs. According to Martino (2014), and Chappel (2015), the benefits of music are as follows. It improves visual and verbal skills, Keeps and aging brain healthy, makes you happier, helps strengthen the heart, it’s heartbeat, pulse rate, and blood pressure, improves sleep quality, boosts your immune system and reduces pain, reduces depression and anxiety, enhances running performance, lowers …show more content…
