Multi-media means more than one media, so if using multimedia it would be using more than one media at a time. Multimedia is a combination of text, sound, animation, graphics and videos that can be interactive to the users and be delivered by electronic and digital means.

Usefulness in meeting needs
Audio – Audio media is media that is vocal, it is produced by vibration and is only useful in the form of hearing, and audio comes in forms of speech, sound effects and music. Examples of audio is a description of what is happening in a video e.g. ‘jimmy looks left’ this sentence allows a person who may have sight problems to know that the certain character has performed a certain action.
Video – Video is the form of multimedia whereby recording, processing, transmitting, reconstructing and capturing is possible, it includes live recording and photo realistic images, it also takes a lot of storage space. An example of video multimedia is the use of live TV, most programmes broadcasted on live TV is recorded or is being filmed and being transmitted in the form of video multimedia.
Text ¬– Text is a common form of multimedia, it is a multimedia that can express something through words, it can be used in menus, navigation bars etc. It can be used to put together a message; examples of text could be subtitles, descriptive text.
Images – Images are multimedia that can be seen but do not move, images can be used to broaden a users knowledge of what the multimedia product is about e.g. the image of a plane would give the user the idea that the product has something to do with planes.
