When I was nine years old, I lived in a multigenerational household on my mother’s side of the family. The house had lots of people inside of it and consisted of my five brothers, three sisters, mother, aunt and her boyfriend, grandmother, and grandfather. Living with twelve other people was a really fun part of my life and it made me who I am today. There were many benefits of living in this multigenerational household that I would be very beneficial to many people. One of the first benefits is that drugs were never allowed in the multigenerational household I lived in because that was not something that my family condoned. This brought all of the family members together so we can have a joyful time together. The family was always there to support me whenever I had a problem. I remember I was trying to ride a bike but I kept falling off. Then on one of the times I fell, a part of the bike had cut the bottom of my heel and left me with a gash because I was not wearing shoes. At least five of my family members so me and rushed to me to help me. They told me it is okay and they took me to the hospital to fix the problem. One week later, my family members came to show me how to ride it the bike. With time and patience, I eventually learned how to ride it without falling off the bike. I shared a great bond with my family, especially my grandparents. They would take us out to eat, go on road trips with us, and read us bedtime stories. We deepened our relationship. College students can have it way easier because they can save up for a car or even for a house while living in one of these households. I know a few friends who go to Chaffey College that do not go to work, but only school have they live in a house with their family. With other college students, sometimes they won’t have to worry about paying rent because their parents understand they are going to college and work at the same time while going to school. I have always been against going to school and working at the same time. There was one month when my brother, Jacob, was not able to pay rent. Everyone let him slide because he is part of the family and they understood that college students such as him do not get much money.
